My mom's leg pain

My mom had a PET Scan today at 11:30 and afterwards she went to see her oncologist about the pain in her leg. He sent her to the hospital for an ultrasound. It turns out that it's a clot. They kept her there for a couple of hours in short stay afterwards. They also gave her a shot and strict instructions to call her oncologist first thing in the morning so he can start her on Coumadin.

Sounds like they can resolve this without surgery which is always good.

I asked her if they told her how big it was or anything, and she said that they told her that her doctor would have all the details. I suspected it was a clot and told MIL and Kyle that last night. I am glad she went, but I bet she has no clue how serious it could be.

Unfortunately, clots are common in cancer patients.

It could be very serious. If left untreated SERIOUS things could happen such as throwing a clot to the head or the lung. She needs to contact her oncologist ASAP in the am....

for you!

I wish I knew! When she was first diagnosed two years ago, I handled everything and she did whatever I said. After this time, and especially after she pitched her fit and threw a scene the night we went to dinner right before we left for Disney this year--when she said she had gone through cancer alone, etc--I decided to let her handle it all so she might be able to see how much I did do the first go around. Well, of course, now she is hell bent on doing it HER way, which is not the best way at all.
