I promise y'all, I am not making this up.
Took Emily to school this morning, then had to take Donna to Fayetteville to pick up her car. She just had some new tires put on it and some other work done to it. Left Donna at 9:40 to head to Newnan for my doctor's appt and pre-op stuff at the hospital. A little before 10, Donna calls me. She's been in a bad accident.
Her car is not drivable, etc. Luckily I have Kyle on the other line. He leaves work. It's a long story, but they have to go get my mom's car so they can pick Emily up from school by 12:00. They took Donna's car away before she could get her personal stuff out, the police didn't take a statement from her, etc. Donna had to go sit at IHOP in Fayetteville and wait for Kyle.
In the meantime, I go to see my doctor. Get put on the fetal monitor, and about 15 minutes later, the nurse comes in and says, "Ms. Newman, Dr. S won't be back until 1:30 today (it's about 10:50), so we'll just keep this tape and put it in your chart and you can see him later on this week." UM HELLO!
I said, "No, I can't. I am having a c-section on Friday, and I am supposed to go to the hospital today for pre-op." So she goes out to see what needs to be done. I had to go back at 1:30.
So, here it is 4:25, and I am just now getting home. Donna has a tiny little rental car, and she is very very sore. I have called our doctor to try to get her in to be seen and am waiting to hear back. So, please pray that she is okay.
A couple of HUGE praises:
1. Donna does not seem to have been seriously injured.
2. Emily was at school and not in the car.
3. When Kyle and Donna went to the police station to talk to the officer who responded to the accident, the officer told them that it was definitely the other driver's fault.
Oh, and the highlight of my day--my mom conveniently doesn't recall that her friend Jackie agreed to take next week off to stay with her and help us out. So . . . I am back to square one with that, here at the last minute.
