Baby swings Which is better?

The side to side action or back and forth? This is the one I was thinking of getting. I don't really need anything super fancy, but a nice, sturdy plain one would be nice. I already know my dd wants to play in it.

I don't know, I've heard alot of people's babies really liked the side to side motion early on and then prefered the forward back motion later.

That's the one I want, it does both but it's a little pricey, so I'm hoping that someone gets it for me for the baby shower. It also has vibrations to it which I know alot of people liked, and that way I don't need one of those little papsan type things, it does everything in 1 item instead of me having to have 2.

I have a front to back and it works just fine for our needs and was simple and cheap. (not cheap quality - just affordable)

I also have a papasan that Kate still sits in - even though she weighs too much she loves it for tv watching. And combined I paid less than the one swing that Mel has picked out.

ya I just like the swing for space reasons, that way I only need to have one item in the living room. I don't know how big your living room is maybe 2 items would work better for ya.

I got a bouncer that vibrates at my shower for Kate. I really just want a new swing. Something sturdy that can withstand 3 year old affection. Those side to side ones really don't look like they could handle the pounding she can give things. I've heard a lot of good things about the Fisher Price Aquarium one, but it's awfully small. If I were going to have more children, I might invest in it, but since this is the last one, I want one that I can use for several months.

We have one that just goes front and back and my kids all enjoyed it. I don't know anyone that has one that goes sideways. I do know someone who had one of the FisherPrice small ones and they liked it because it was easy to move from room to room or even take with them places, but they weren't able to use it as long as we could ours.

This isn't a swing but we got one of THESE with our last and he loved it. The great thing about it is that it can be folded when not in use and put up somewhere so it's not just out taking up space.

Oh, be stocked up on LOTS of batteries for whatever swing you get - they can really use a lot!

Grace,

I purchased the exact same one your thinking of getting off of Craigslist for 25 bucks it's sitting in her room awaiting her arrival.
