I hurt

ok so I "think" it's that my lower back needs to crack on one side, but it might be that the nerve is pinched. It's my lower left hip in the back that is hurting SOOOO bad. It hurts to walk today, I'm limping like an old lady. The only chair I can sit in is a kitchen chair otherwise I can't get off the couch it hurts so much. Anyone have any ideas on how to make it better?

It sounds like sciatica, which I had with each pregnancy. VERY painful! Take it easy because you can definitely make it worse! Heat and massage helped me some (poor Mike did a lot of rubbing my back! ) Can you just soak in the tub for awhile? I've heard people say that chiropractors did wonders for them, but I never tried it!

Oh yeah same problem here. Sometimes when I get up to walk pain shoots down the back into the back of my leg. Tylenol as long as your doc says it's ok and rest, heating pad seemed to help as well. Try getting the baby to move a little too sometimes that will help.

Alternate heat and cold, heat will sooth cold will reducxe swelling and take some pressure off the nerve. Also you can try this(I like this position while I do the heat/cold).....
stack a pile of pillows on the floor and get on hands and knees leaning your weight on the pillows. I put the cold pack on my back for about 15 minutes while I lean like this...then I switch to the warm pack and I slowly rock my hips. When you are pregnant this helps to take the babies weight off your spine as well as stretching the vertabre that are pinching. There are several other excersizes you can do as well....you just have to make sure they are ok when pregnant.

Well I took a hot shower and it helped for a little while. I'm hoping it will just work itself out while I'm sleeping.

The upside is that Mike did the laundry today because he didn't want me going up and down the stairs carrying the basket with my back bothering me.

I'm thinking of getting a belly band. I don't know if they help that condition or not, but they will support the back.

My doctor gave me a little pamphlet of back exercises when I was pregnant because I actually pulled a muscle. I can remember a couple of them, but that's about it.

One was to get on your hands and knees and then arch your back like a cat and then flex the other way. Hold each for 5-10 seconds. I think you did it 8-10 times.

The other one was to stand against the wall with your back flat against the wall and then raise your leg and press your foot to the wall. Alternate legs. That one didn't do a whole lot for me.

There was another one that you sat in a chair for, but I don't remember it, really.
