They could have told me

I'm pretty mad at my dr's office. They never told me that the Rhogam shot was only good for 72 hours after they drew the blood for it. I had my blood drawn on thursday which only left me Friday to get the shot. I couldn't make it in on Friday, so now I have to do the whole process over again. They've really messed around with this already. I was supposed to get the shot at 26 weeks. I've been bugging them about it for awhile now. I am now 29+ weeks. I really don't like this dr's office. I wish they were not the only option in town or that it was much closer to my old drs not 3 hours away.

I did some research on the web. It just has to be given in the 7th month of pregnancy not an exact week. Whew! That scared us both.

Don't forget to call back every hour or so until you get through their thick skulls.

Because I haven't had to face this with any of my pregnancies, I don't understand. Why do you have to have blood drawn first before having the shot? Or am I reading this wrong? From the research I've done this morning, it says you usually get the shot around 28 weeks because it's only good for about 12 weeks so that'll get you to the end of your pregnancy, and then you'll have another within 72 hours after delivery. But nothing says anything about blood being drawn first. Am I missing something? Or was the blood drawn to get your RH factor?

I do hope you get the shot soon and that your doctor starts communicating with you bette.r

I have to do the Rhogam thing too, but I don't remember them having to draw blood first when I had my first one with Haley. That was almost five years ago though. Sorry that you have to do that all over again.

Supposedly, they make the shot from your blood. I don't remember having to have my blood drawn with my dd either.

I guess that makes it safer for you if they use your own blood. Stinks that you have to go through it all again though!

Especially since they told me to call them back, but they aren't answering the phone again. Even getting to speak with a receptionist at this place is rough, let alone a nurse or someone medical. They really enjoy having the monopoly of being the only ob/gyn clinic in town.
