Not yet circumcised

Randy is still not circumcised and he is almost 2 months and 1 week old. They didn't do it shortly after birth because they said his penis was too short!! Now that he is so old, I don't know if I should have it done. I'd have to take him to a surgeon, they'd probably have to use anesthesia (sp?), and the cost would probably more than my husband and I could handle. His regular pediatrician looked at his penis and said that it is a little short, but he doesn't know why they didn't go ahead with circumsizing him. (I don't know if medicaid will cover it now and self pay is just not really an option for us) Have any of you ladies had to wait in order to have your son circumcised?

My sons are 21 year old and 2 @ 14.5 yrs old and we are still waiting to have them circumsized. Then again, as you probably guessed I don't believe in circumsizion.

However the majority of woman here do believe in it and have had their son's done. I hope that someone can give you the advice you are looking for.

PS: I am in no way, shape or form trying to tell you what to do or influence your desicion, you just seemed a little upset bc Randy has not been circ'ed yet and you weren't sure you could afford to have it done privately.

I just wanted to let you know that he will not suffer physically if you cannot afford to have him circ'ed. My boys are all fine. Hope you get the help you want

Hmm we're having a boy and plan on having him circumsized.

My parents didn't have my brother done (actually my mom took my brother home without telling my dad she hadn't had it done, he was away with the coast guard) And when my dad found out about a week later he looked into it. It's a surgery then. So they didn't do it. I don't know if I'd do it that late or not. Now days it comes down to personal preference I guess. It's almost a 50/50 split even in the U.S. now.

all four of mine are circumsized. Though we didn't have to wait, if we had, we still would have found a way to have it done.

we didn't have jacob's done when he was in the hospital because we were having problems with him eating and the doctor didn't want to upset him anymore and cause him to quit eating all together...
so we had his done probably about a week after he got out of the hospital.

Are they anticipating it growing as he gets older and doing it then, or did they reccomend anything??

They said that if it doesn't start growing as he gets older, that they can use hormone injections to help. That is another reason I'm not sure I want it done. What if they circ him and then they give him shots or something and there isn't enough skin? I'm really torn here. I actually didn't want to have him circ'd in the first place and hubby doesn't care either way, so I am really considering leaving what God gave him there, and if he ever wants it done...that'll be up to him. I also don't know about giving him injections if it doesn't grow on its own. Well, thanks for the responses ladies. I'll take all you said into consideration.

If I had it to do over ... and definitely if I had not had it done when they were born, I wouldn't have it done now. Plus, I doubt insurance will pay for it at this point (it's billed as part of your child birth bill when it's done right after the delivery).

I'm sure you'll make the right decision, whatever it may be!

we didn't get Logan done as he came out half circ'd already according to the dr. I am not pro or against but at this time i am happy with our decision.

Ditto! He will be just fine if you decide not to have it done.

I didn't want to get the boys done, although Ethan had a pearl cyst on the tip of his foreskin so I'm sure that would have to have been removed anyways. Jerm was so adamant that we had them done though It won't hurt him if you don't.

Unless his penis isn't functioning properly, why would they give him hormone injections just to make it bigger? Circumcision is a personal decision and like the others have said, your son will be fine without having his circumcised. Same thing with the size. Again, unless there is a functioning problem I think he should be the one to decide if he's comfortable with the size of his penis and if he wants to do something about it when he's older.

Plus like someone pointed out, unless there is a medical reason at this point your insurance isn't going to cover having him circumcised.

If I was in your shoes I would not do it at this point with my Randy. If it wasn't done in the hospital then I would have left it there.

My Randy is snipped.
