who had post partum or whose baby blues lingered for a while--
Did you breastfeed or bottle feed?

I had PPD pretty badly and I breastfed. I can honestly say I don't think either feeding method prevents it. PPD runs in both sides of my family. I think genetics plays a roll in it. I'm prepared for it this time.

I don't think it matters either, but I wondered if there was a higher occurance with one method or the other.

I had PPD bad with both of them. I started out BF, but ended up bottle feeding formula. It helped tremendously with my PPD to not BF...it was WAY stressing me out!

I don't think it matters though....

Now that I am supplementing with formula, I feel less emotional. Part of me feels relieved because having Travis take a bottle of either breastmilk or formula enables me to be there for Emily and to do things for her and with her that I couldn't do if I were breastfeeding only. Feeling this way has helped me feel a lot less of the baby blues that I was feeling. It makes me wonder if bottle feeding had been more successful with Emily whether or not the baby blues would have lingered and then turned into post partum depression the way it did.

The worst I had it was right after Ian. But, to be honest, I didn't have it at all while nursing Kyan. Well, not til he was about 15 months old.

I breast fed all three and had very little PPB with any of them. I had a bit with Jess, but I think it was more stress then PPB....we were beyond broke and I had three kids to feed,DH was NO help with the baby and it was all on me, etc.....
My depression didn't even come back till after I was done breastfeeding the last time. I used to deal with it as a teen, but the bouts of depression pretty much stopped after I had Josh(not counting my 9 month stint with depo shot nightmare).....then after Jess was about 18 months they started to come back.

I still breast feed. I'm sure it's genetic, but with the three older kids I didn't have it at all. I bet alot of it is also environmental.
