Ok I am almost 39wks, dilated about 2 cm and the Dr. stripped my membranes on Wed. I feel like this baby is going to come out of my butt. Does anyone have any methods to help speed things along. I want to hurry and go this weekend when MY dr is on call and not that other 'twat twit' (I do not want her to touch me). I know that "the baby only comes when they are ready" Ive heard it all.....but anything will help. Any suggestions. The bottle of castor oil is staring at me and saying "you know I will work." But that is a LAST resort.

I am D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-E

Thanks!

Try walking alot, I know alot of women walk tons to help things along.
Spicy food? Sex?

Good luck, I can't imagine trying the castor oil, I have heard too many women just end up with the runs and stomach cramps.

Walking walking walking for me!

Sex might not hurt either. The sperm is suppose to be like a natural pitocion.

Whatever you do do not go the caster oil route! That can be very dangerous, and you may end up doing nothing more than sitting in the bathroom in extreme pain for a day or two.

SEX! ( or at least my husband only heard that part when the doctor was trying to give us ideas) Trust me, I understand. A lot of us understand. My last son was a week late. I tried almost everything.
I did the cohash, though I can't remember if it's blue or black, but one of them is dangerous. RESEARCH ANY THING LIKE THAT YOU WANT TO TRY!
The results could be extremely bad if you don't.

Evening primrose oil is supposed to help. They have capsules and then the actual oil you can put on your cervix, Though if you're like most of us, by 39 weeks you can't reach well enough to wipe your rear much less actually reach your cervix. Though DH could do it for ya!

I had my membranes stripped and went into labor no more than 15 minutes later with my 3rd son.
Patience!!!!!! It's hard. But Nothing is going to help if your little one isn't ready.
Even the EPO and sex won't help if your cervix isn't ripe.

The only thing that worked for me when my daughter was a week late was having my membranes stripped. I had it done on Wednesday and went into labor on Friday night.
Sex, walking, spicy foods, none of that worked.
Just hang in there, as hard as it is. You won't be pregnant forever.
And I agree, don't try the castor oil. I know someone whose wife did that and she went into labor so fast the two of them delievered the baby in their bathroom at their apartment.

Good luck!

I had my membranes stripped at 39 weeks, and nothing. I had it done again, a week later and was given some herb pills(forget what it is called, kohash maybe, from the midwife), then I went into labor.

EPO will help to ripen your cervix if its not already there.....

With my dd I tried almost everything to speed my labor along (she was a week late)......

WIth my son I was at the same stage as you.....at 2 weeks before my due date, I was at 2cm, and had been for 2 weeks...so my dr stripped my membranes.....I was soooo uncomfortable after that......and desperate so i tried the castor oil...........DON"T DO IT......it did put me into labor but my contractions were all over the place I ended up in labor for 27.5 hours...and still had to have an emergency c-section because my labor stalled and he was stuck in the birth canal (he turned his head and got stuck)

I couldn't help it and tried the castor oil on Sat. (which was also the night of the full moon). I ended up having fast and furious contractions an hour later (about 4), but no intestinal cramping. I got to the hospital at 6 and they were 3-4 mins apart. Nurse checked me, I was <1cm, and only 25%. So they told me to walk. Walk walk walk is what I did, up and down the 10 ft long hallway. contractions were fierce. Dr came and checked me around 10, I was 2 cm, 75%, and -3 station. Then around 12 checked again and made no progress. Told me I could stay or go home, so I stayed and walked and at 2 decided to go home, contractions were slowing down. I had to wait 2hrs while 2 other babies were delivered. Talk about depressing. Finally at 4 am I got to go home. I don't know if it was the full moon or the castor oil that worked. I didnt have any bowel cramping till about 10:30 and I had one HUGE movement at 11 and that was it. But the twitty little nurse said to me as she hands me the discharge papers "Castor oil causes intestinal cramping and some women confuse that with contractions, so don't try that again." All I could do was say "OK" But what I was thinking was "are you freakin kidding me? Ive already had a baby. I know the difference b/w an intestinal cramp and a contraction SWEETIE! If I had intestinal cramps like that every 3-4 mins, you would have had poop all over you hours ago. Intestinal cramps wouldn't have shown up on the fetal monitor and CERTAINLY wouldn't have made me dilate. Get out of my way, muffin!" Don't talk to a 9 month starving pregnant woman who is going home without a baby and did I mention STILL PREGNANT woman like that. Don't they teach that and tact in Nursing School?? UGH! Needless to say, I have researched everything and am drinking Red Raspberry leaf tea and taking black cohosh every morning and night along with Evening Primrose Oil Supplements. Walking as much as I can and playing with my nipples. NOW I am ready! LOL
