need some congestion help!

ahh I could deal with Kate - but now I have it too! I am so congested, my nose is like a river and my head is pounding. What's safe for me!? I need to be able to sleep - tomorrow is one of my only free days and I need to be able to function!

When I was so sick this summer, my dr said I could take Clariton. I would call my dr before taking anything though. I was only in my first trimester then and I know what you can take changes with each trimester.

I know they look dorky but I still swear by the Breathe Right nasal strips. Take a Sudafed, stick a strip on your nose, put some vapor rub on your chest, and sleep in a semi upright position.
I get horrible cold/allergy attacks and my nose gets completely stopped up... this routine works everytime for me.

I too, was always told to take sudafed, or there was also a Walgreens brand of OTC cold and allergy I would take instead...it was okayed by my OB and was without the pseudoephedrine...so I didn't get the jitters or nervous feeling that the ephedrine caused...hope this helps

There is also this thing I use that is for my one yr old daughter...its made by pedicare...its a night light that has a refillable vicks strip that you replace daily, each lasts for eight hours....it fills the room with that Vicks smell, it really helps me for congestion...just an idea.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I like sudafed too - But when I looked it up last night I wasn't sure if it was safe or not. but since ya all tell me its ok I'm gonna take one (now here's to hoping I have one! )

I was always allowed Sudafed. Also, you might want to check with your OB about Mucinex. I swear by the stuff and was allowed it after the first trimester.

Try Elaine's suggestions too ... even add some hot tea if you can drink it!

you can try putting some boiling water in a bowl, drape a towel over your head over the bowl and inhale the steam to help loosen it all up.

What about Vicks vaporub? can you use that while pg?

I took the route of not taking anything and I can kinda brethe but my head is pounding. Hopefully Kate falls asleep about the time I get Lys from school and I can crawl back into bed.
