When relatives are jealous

How do you deal with jealous relatives?

When I recently told my SIL we were taking a little trip for a few days, she got all jealous on me. I've watched her get an entire housefull of new furniture this year, top of the line computers, robots to clean her floors, etc. Now, I get one little nice thing and she is jealous. Dh says it's par for the course with her.

Do what you're doing and complain to everyone that will listen about her - that's what I'd do! If she's going to be jealous there's nothing you can do to change that so you can really just ignore it or gripe about her to get it out of your system. But most of all you can have a fabulous time on your vacation and tell her all about it once you get back!

It's not like she hasn't enjoyed rubbing it in that she has this new top of the line computer, all new bedroom suites for her and her kids, a new dining room set, and every new kitchen gadget known to man. Plus she lives in a new 4 bedroom house and all she does is complain about how it isn't nice enough. Then she gets mad because we have more money than she does. Well, dummy, if you didn't spend every dime the minute you got it, you could go on a little trip too. I will enjoy rubbing it in that we are having a little vacation.

I do get a little tired of hearing about her robots and her new this and her new that, but I'm not jealous of her. I just think "I am so glad that I am not married to you!"

I tend to ignore jealous family. And the longer I am on Baby U, the more glad I am to be an only child. My "sisters" are George's Sister and my sister in law. And my best friend of 20+ yrs. I have a tendency to get jealous from time to time, but not like that. I am genuinely happy for them when they get something new, or nice. Not that I wouldn't want to have one too, mind you But I see what I have, and I see what they have and I know we are not the same people. I love them all dearly and to be that jealous is rediculous.
