Pet Peeve

This isn't a big deal to hardly anyone I know but it is one of my biggest pet peeves. I hate it when someone that is pregnant keeps calling their baby "it"! That simply drives me up a wall! Say "the baby" or give it a cute little name like "bean" or something but please don't call your precious little baby "it"! Makes me want to scream!

that's what we called the baby before we knew we were having a boy. Poor kid's always going to get called Bean by me now.

Our neighbor does something similar. Her daughter (their only child so far), just turned two. When she talks about her, it's something like "The baby fell and bumped her head yesterday". Drives me nuts, because a) the girl has a name, b) she's the only child, and c) with two you really aren't a baby anymore. I think I could understand it if it's my other friend, who has 4 year old twins and a baby, but with the only child.... Kinda weird.

i agree about 'it'

also people that do the same as eva said but say, 'my daughter' or my son. bothers me especially when i know the kids personally.

they have names!

Oh, "the baby" thing gets to me just as bad once they're born! I know someone who still calls her daughter, who will be four next month, the baby. I am always quick to correct anyone who refers to any of my kids as the baby and tell them that they have a name and to please use it!
