Help Me I Am About To Go Crazy!!!!

ok I have a 4 year old little boy who I got preg with like 3 months after marriage. However, it is taken me forever to get pregnant again in June and then it ended in miscarriage in July 24 of this year. My doctor says I have PCOS. I took clomid for 3 months but doctor says I was not ovulating then I got pregnant so I was ovulating after all. I want another baby bad and it is driving me crazy. I don't have the money to do all the fertility clinics. What else can I try that may be inexpensive to me to help. Also, I just started taking prenatal vitimins again to see if the folic acid will help. Please if someone can help I would appreciate it. Also, I know to stay in bed 30 minutes at least after intercourse and elevate my hips could help as well is there anything else I can do.

Thanks,
Kristy

I don't know that much about PCOS but I'd start charting your cycle. There's alot of online sites that you can do it free.
When I was having irregular cycles we also made sure we had sex every other day for the whole month. I admit it did get a little old though.

With PCOS it's almost impossible to chart your cycle. Most women with PCOS don't have regular periods.

I have no advice for you hon, I do know there are many women here who have been through the TTC process and some that are still going through it. Good luck

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't have any idea it would be impossible to chart

There are women here who have PCOS and have successfully conceived, hopefully one of them may be able to help you. I wish you luck, I know how frustrating it can be to have to wait to get PG.

Clomid makes you ovulate, so you may not be ovulating on your own.
There's a book out there called The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally. You might want to check it out.

Ok... I have PCOS let me try to help. I have a few questions first.... Did your DR have you on Metformin (aka Glucophage) while you were on Clomid? If not, you need to try it again together. There is some evidence that the combination of meds helps women with PCOS ovulate better than Clomid alone (this is part of how my second child was concieved).
Do you know if your progesterone levels are okay once you concieved? Some women with PCOS have issues with progesterone (mainly because PCOS screws with all of the hormones in your body). If you know that your progesterone levels are low, or if you aren't sure... Try a progesterone cream. You apply it topically on your belly every day for the first trimester, be sure to follow the directions on the tube. You can buy this at GNC or online. It could help prevent miscarriage once you concieve.
Are you exercising? I know, I personally hate to exercise. But PCOS is linked to insulin resistance. One way to increase insulin sensitivity is to exercise. If your insulin begins to normalize, than your other hormones due as well. My surprise pregnancy happened while I was exercising every day.

YOU CAN GET PREGNANT WITH PCOS! I know personally how frustrated you are.
My oldest daughter (who is now 7) took 4 years to concieve. With her I was exercising every day, and having sex every other day. Although, she was concieved during the only period in my life where i had a period every month. My second child, who is 3 (and yes we were trying the whole time between kids) was concieved on a combo of Metformin/Clomid. I used progesterone cream to prevent miscarriage since I had several. My third child who is 20 months old was a complete surprise. We weren't trying to get pregnant, although we weren't preventing. I was exercising everyday and be careful about the types of carbs I ate to control my insulin levels.

Sorry this is so long, and if you need more help or just want someone to talk to let meknow. I'm in Germany and get online every other day or so.

Also, talk to your doctor about your progesterone levels. He/She can prescribe you progesterone. I had to take it with both of my pregnancies to prevent miscarriage. The first time I did trochets which look like Chicklets gum and dissolve in your mouth. The second time I just took a pill. My sister did progesterone shots, and my friend did suppositories. I didn't know about the cream, so obviously, there's lots of options, and I would talk to your doctor if I were you.

I want to say a special thank you so far to all that have contributed to my topic. However, when I took clomid I took it for 3 months and did the blood work on day 21 so see if I was ovulating and they said no. Then I was off of clomid like almost 4 months before I ever got pregnant with the miscarriage. I am not sure if my levels were low or not. Also, when I did take clomid it was just the one pill nothing else.

I took Clomid, too, and it didn't make me ovulate like it should have. We moved on after two months on Clomid and did injections. Those worked perfectly because after one month I got pregnant with my daughter.
On the flip side, I did nothing special to get pregnant with my son. No fertility treatments at all--we weren't even trying.

Krisy, if your insurance will cover the shots you may want to move on. If not, they should cover the Clomid/Metformin combo. Something to look into.

insurance wont even pay for clomid we tried it the last time i was on clomid

i hope some of the advice helps!

I don't know if i have or had pocos or not, but it took us five years to concieve my son, who is almost 4 now.

my advice which i know is impossible is to move on and stop trying, then your stress levels are down, and you can just let nature take its course

Our insurance didn't cover any fertility treatments, either. We just worked out a payment plan with our specialist and did the treatments. It took us a couple of years, but we paid a little each month and got him paid off. It was worth it to me.
Also, with the injections, which are very expensive (ours would have cost $2000 for a one month supply), the nurse at the specialist's office found a pharmacy that would donate the shots. We were given a two month supply, but since we only needed one month (I got pregnant on the first try with the injections), we donated the extra month's supply we had to another couple who needed it. You might want to check into that sort of thing.
We didn't think we could afford fertility, either, but somehow we managed it. At the time that I was trying to get pregnant with my daughter, my progesterone trochets were not even covered, and those were $65 a month, and I took them for five or six months. Looking back, I do know how expensive it all was, but just like those hokey mastercard commercials, having my daughter today is truly priceless.

I have PCOS too. My son is now a little over 3 months old!! My husband and I didn't really try to prevent pregnancy for like 3 or 4 years (I didn't get pregnant either) and then we spent another year and a half actually trying to achieve pregnancy. It can be hard having PCOS and wanting a child so badly, I've been there. My OBGYN prescribed Metformin for me (3x a day 500 mg each) and within 3 months and a little luck, we were pregnant. Some women need both Metformin and Clomid to ovulate, some need to lose weight (like me) and also take Metformin. I lost about 30 lbs. before I got pregnant. I also did not need progesterone, but I did take Metformin until my 10th week of pregnancy to help prevent a miscarriage.

It takes time and patience to get pregnant when you have PCOS. You need to try and focus your attention elsewhere, if you focus on getting pregnant, the stress can be a contributing factor. Once I accepted the fact that it may take a long time with treatment for me to get pregnant, it was like BOOM, I was pregnant. My husband and I made love EVERY night no matter how tired we were, I would stay in bed on my back with my legs and hips tilted for at least 15 minutes. I'm not sure if it helped, but I was willing to stand on my head if I had too LOL. I also took prenatal vitamins for about 6 months before I got pregnant, I think that really helped me in the long run. It will happen hun, you just have to be patient. You've got one miracle already, I'm sure you will be blessed with another in the future. My story and my son are both proof that a woman with PCOS can get pregnant, sustain the pregnancy, and give birth to a beautiful miracle. I found out on January 2, 2006 that I was pregnant (I even posted the good news on this forum that same night!!) I gave birth to my son on August 22, 2006. He was 8 lbs. 7 oz. and 20 inches in length.

I think you may be able to help me!

Hello my name is Linda and I just found out that I have PCOS, my husband and I have been trying to have a child for over a year and no luck. I also have not had a cycle for over a year every doctor I went to see told me nothing was wrong, until I went to see Erin mt new OBGYN and she found the syndrome. I just found out Wednesday about it and don't know how to react. She has put me on a pill called Metformin but some of my family has told me this will not work because this pill is used for people who have type 2 diabetes. My doctor also told me to lose at least 50 pounds and I may be pregnant sooner then later. What do you think about all this?
