Do you allow candy on a regular basis?

We always have candy around and the kids can pick one piece after dinner each day. Some days I'll even let them have a piece in the afternoon. I find that when they know that they can have it at some point, they make much less of a fuss for it and don't over indulge on Holidays.
Haley I have some problems with sneaking candy at night after everyone has gone to bed.

I don't usually keep candy around because my kids prefer other stuff. They gets treats here and there, but it's not daily.

We still have some candy hanging around from Halloween but we don't buy bags of it to keep in the house or anything. i would just eat the crap myself!LOL! We do buy them a piece of candy here and there when we go to WM or something.

Nope... we have TOT candy left.. but once thats gone we won't have anymore until Easter. Then that will probably last quite a while..

I'm such a mean Mom! My kids don't even get regular KoolAid. I but the WM kind that is sugar free! We also use sugar free maple syrup, and we use splenda, and I buy the ceral that claims there is less sugar in it.. wow.. I am mean!

I do the same thing Robyn but it makes no sense when i do it because I still let them have candy.

I don't ever buy candy for the house either. TOT candy lasts through Christmas and beyond, and then Christmas candy gets them until Easter, and then Easter lasts almost until Halloween but they prefer to have popsicles as their treats during the summer. Oh and they choose hot chocolate alot during the winter instead of candy.

I do the same thing Robyn. Except let me tell ya-the sugar free chocolate syrup is just NASTY!!

That was my next purchase Krista... I'll keep it as a mental note!

I don't moniter the older two's candy intake .. and not so much Kale either. They all 3 have great teeth and are perfect weight, so candy is fine.

I try to limit them somewhat, Rach seems to have fragile teeth, a molar has chipped a little, and Issac crunches on suckers and that makes me nervous. Maybe one day a week they get some.
No, but I'm pretty lenient about treats when we are shopping.

We always have lollipops. He's not crazy about any other kind of candy. He'd rather have crackers or pretzels.

I have a treat jar that Brianna gets to chose from-she doesn't have it on a daily basis though. She prefers popcorn as a snack/treat in the evenings. With the twins they hardly have candy as they are too small yet to eat it-they like to have a cookie or a few chips once in a while.

Re: Do you allow candy on a regular basis?

Some of my kids do and some don't. Not because i don't allow it, my 4 yr old surprisingly don't like candy. She prefers fruit instead. The 2 yr olds no! There a handful without sugar. The 16, 15, 13 yr old ones eat pretty much anything in the house so I don't buy much candy and they really don't ask for it either.

Nope. I don't want them to develop a habit that's gonna affect them in the future. If you indulge them with candies, then it will be hard for you later on to ask them not to eat excessive chocoates. It's what I call "begin with the end in mind"
