Baby Carrier

Need advice on which baby carrier is the most comfortable for baby and easy to use? Should I go with a swing or carrier like bjorn?
We have a baby bjorn carrier, and I love it. It's kind of a pain to get on and off, but it's very secure. We used it a lot with our daughter, and it was great. We used it with Emily for a good while because she could use it both before and after she was able to hold her head up on her own and sit up. I don't know if she would have liked the sling once she got older.
A friend of mine gave us a sling carrier, and she and her baby loved that, too. I haven't tried using it because I am so clumsy. I am afraid I'll swing it around or do something stupid like that and hurt the baby. Plus, I am sending it to another friend of mine who wants it, so I don't want to mess it up. It's like brand new.

I used one of the baby slings and it was fantastic. My ds is now almost 3 and I just got rid of it as he was getting too big for it....but I was able to use it from newborn to now, so its a great investmetn, and not as expensive and the baby bjorn carriers

Here is the one that i had used. http://www.heart2heart.on.ca/

I had a Bjorn too and it was the most comfortable carrier I had ever tried. Whatever you do, don't go for a cheaper brand like Snugli because they hurt my neck, back, and shoulders so much that it was a waste of money.
The slings are great because you can use it as a side carrier even when they are in their toddler years.

I love the Bjorn. I bought a Nojo sling with my oldest--could never figure it out and returned it. I bought a Kangaroo Karrier sling with my new baby and used it once. Then I could never get the both of us comfortable with it. It's brand new and cost me quite a bit of $. I do highly recomend the Bjorn though.

Ok, so I went to Target and got the Baby Bjorn. Came home and tried my put my little guy in. He's only 5 mos and 17lbs but I couldn't make it fit. It didn't feel comfortable for him and when he started to yell, I knew he didn't like it. I hear great things about the Bjorn but what am I doing wrong? I losen all the areas, the bottom and sides (for the arms) but still seem too tight. I need to get something like this as we will be traveling soon. Be nice to carry him around like this cuz we'll be doing lots of working. Any other suggestions? tia!

I had a carrier, but it never fit me well, so I never used it. Never tried one of the slings.

For the Bjorn make sure you adjust the height correctly. Also, put him in it when he's fed and happy, or even when he's fed and ready to nap. Then walk. You have to keep moving. Start out with just a few minutes int he carrier and increase the time he spends in it each time you use it. I hope it works out for you b.c it's can be sooooo useful when you're out especially on trips.

thanks teacherinct,

i did adjust the height - that's the most bottom part (has a triangle at the end), right? I pull it all the way down but seems to snug for him. i still need to get my sling when i have time.

Frustrated & Stressed Out!

so I went out, got 2 different slings, and tried them out. hated them! they don't feel comfortable nor does it seem comfortable for the baby.

also now I am rethinking about taking them on this trip. we planned a little vacation but is it worth it. we'll heading to Chicago and weather is going to be very cold this Thursday.

questions for mom: would you go out with your little ones in this kind of weather and try to have a little fun? or should we just all stayed home and do stuff indoors? i really don't know what to do cuz i need to cancel hotel soon if we don't go. so frustrated and stressed out!

get the Bjorn

I dunno but as a father i love the bjorn. my wife uses the sling usually when shes in the house but we use the bjorn whenever we're outdoors. I personally cant see myself in a sling and the bjorn is good because it offers a back support which is great for me. I saw a really nice baby bjorn carrier here. Its up to you. best thing is to buy or try both and see for yourself.

Re: Baby Carrier

I went from a front pack that killed my back after about 15 minutes to a sling. I really prefer the sling. It is really comfy. I have used it with my son since he was born and he is now about 32 pounds and I think I am done carrying him! There are lots of different ways to carry the baby depending on their age, the cradle hold is perfect for newborns and the hip carry is my favorite for older babies that can hold their head up.

I ordered from www.gogreenwithstyle.com last time and I love the sling. They can make custom sizes. fficeffice" />>>

Re: Baby Carrier

Now, I haven't tried this since I don't have a baby yet. But this is what I'm going to try when I do: http://www.mobywrap.com/ It looks like it will have the support (my back and for the baby) like a pack would have, but also the flexibility of a sling. Plus is looks like you can snuggle a little baby in out of the wind.

Re: Baby Carrier

I really loved using the Bjorn carrier for my 3 little ones. It is comfortable, washes easily and you can breastfeed conveniently while baby is in carrier. Hope this helps!

Re: Baby Carrier

Yes, baby bjorn carrier is very secure. We used it a lot for our baby, and it was great. She was very comfortable in it. Baby carrier can be used before and after baby is able to hold his/her head up and sit up on own.

Re: Baby Carrier

I upgraded to the Bjorn Active with my younger son b/c I loved them so much. I liked the new bibs they have now too. The Active is soooo much more comfy. I could wear it for so much longer than my regular one. My kids loved it.

Re: Baby Carrier

Nowadays there are other alternatives besides the traditional Baby Bjorn baby carrier. I have an Ergo (www.ergobabycarrier.com) as well as a Carry-B (www.carryb.com) baby carrier. All of them are good, just depends on your needs and budget. Baby Bjorn is good to use when your baby is a newborn until about 3 months old. After that you will start to feel the strain on your back because the baby gets heavier. I like the Ergo and the Carry-B because I don't feel the strain on my back when I carry my 15 months old toddler in it. DH prefers to use the Carry-B because he finds it the most lightweight and easiest to put on/take off.
