Keepsake Ornament

Use flour, salt, water to make the dough - have your little one hand (or foot) print on them. Bake, hang on tree, and enjoy. We've been doing that since our first was a baby - needless to say, his ornaments are getting bigger and bigger

we make these too Now that the boys are older (11 & 9) we use cookie cutters to make 'ornaments' and then when they are baked they use markers or paint to draw pictures on them and put their names and the date on the back. It is fun to see how their artististic ability has changed over the years!

I did something similar a few years ago for Christmas. I rolled out the dough and used a 5" pan lid to cut out circles. Then DS pressed his hand in the center of the circles, and we baked the circles. After they had cooled, we put fingerpaint on his hand and put his hand back into the now-baked impression. After tha paint had dried, I sprayed it with a few coats of clear lacquer.

On the back, I wrote his name, age and the year, and each grandparent got one, along with a small plate hanger.
