Okay, a little background, for those of you that don't know there are 5 kids in my family. George and I aren't unique. That makes 4 sibling gifts, 3 spouse gifts, and 15 kids (including grown ones) just on my side of the family. Of course none of us can afford that so we don't buy for everyone. The family is drifting a little with Mom gone, and Dad well... being busy with his new life, so I thought we should do a gift exchange. Sent out an email to the family MONTHS ago, about doing this Christmas book exchange among the kids. The idea being that you can get a book for a buck or two, and it doesn't cost much to spend. This way no one spends a fortune (didn't work for us, I bought a book for all the kids, that way if someone fell thru their wouldn't be a kid without a book). Everyone agreed it would be a great idea...
So at the begining of November (I think it was Shona can correct if need be) I sent out the reminder email, of who was buying for who, that it was supposed to be books tell each other what your kids read, used books are okay etc...
Two days after purchasing ALL of the books, I get an email from my neice asking what books Karah would like. I let her know that it doesn't really matter since she's so little. 4 hours later I get another email (which I think my SIL wrote) telling me that they aren't really into reading but what they (meaning all 3 kids, plus one baby) would like something really unique from Germany. Okay... I CANT AFFORD THAT! There is no way that I can afford to purchase neat Germany things for all of these kids. And I'm sorry I'm not buying for one, what I can't do for all. That's not right.
Anyway sent her an email saying sorry, present already in the mail hope you like them maybe for your birthday. Remember, I really don't think she wrote the letter.
So a box comes from Iowa today. Yes, they bought books. For all three of the kids, when they were only supposed to buy for Karah. There's also some type of toy for Karah too. Now my question is did they buy for the other kids they were supposed to buy for? I sure as hell hope so! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I know this is really a minor issue, but it just frustrates me, this book exchange was supposed to simplify life for the whole family while bringing the kids together.
