Ok let me say that I normally just LOVE my sister in laws. My husbands sisters are just the greatest along with my parents in law!! I'm so lucky with having all of them considering most can't stand their in laws!!

Background.... My husband and I have 4 kids ages 12yrs - 13.5mo... My oldest SIL has 1 child almost 5. And the younger SIL has no children, just spoinls all of ours rotten when she has the means from time to time!!

This year the SIL's have the bright idea to have all the kids' pictures taken while we have them together over Christmas. But here's the thing... I'm gonna have to buy whole outfits and try and get them to match for 4 children in all different departments!! But 4 whole outfit, one wearing Men's clothing!!! And on top of it the cost of the pictures!! It just kinda bites that they didn't even ask if we wanted to or could afford to....

You could do like what we did - Yammie and I had family portraits taken for our parents when she came up here a few weeks ago. Since we are both families of 3, we decided that in each group, one should wear green, one should wear red, and one should wear white/cream. Everyone was to wear dark pants. It worked out great, and I only ended up buying one shirt (cuz DS had outgrown his red shirt without asking )

Maybe figure out a good color scheme - all the boys wear a certain color sweater, and the girls another. Or the littlest ones wear one color, and the older ones wear something else. Find a good combination. They don't have to match exactly - just that the primary color is "red" or "purple" or whatever - may not be the same shade of red, but it's still red. Dark pants/skirts are easy, and honestly, pants usually aren't that visible in pictures.

Good luck with it!

Thanks for the ideas... I'm planing on doing jeans since that's something all the kids have already. I wanted to do sweaters but I can't find sold colored ones anywhere!!!

I was thinking that each kid could be in a different colored solid long sleeve shirt. But I have to clear it with the sister-in-laws....

The sweaters don't *have* to be solid colored. For instance, my niece and I both wore a cream sweater - mine had gold beads and embroidery all over it, and hers had red embroidery on it. Just the main color was cream. Yammie's shirt was red with black on it - but primarily red.

If you could find plain turtlenecks in a variety of solid colors, that'd be perfect - you could probably get them for $7 or so at Walmart, even. And all of them wearing jeans is a great idea. Just be sure whatever you get can be worn again (school, etc) - get as much use out of it as possible.

I was going to say that turtlenecks can look really nice, and are cheap enough too. THey are also easy to "dress up" a bit if you wanted to.
