soy?

I have 3 sample cans of the Soy Similac formula. Should I mix them in with his regular Similac? or should I just use the cans interspersed (sp?) with his other cans? I'd like to use it just because I have it but I don't want Gabe's tummy to be upset if I switch. Any ideas?

I wouldn't switch formula like that if you don't have to. It can be upsetting to a baby's tummy. I had some samples like that to with Kiera and I hated to toss it, but she had a sensitive stomach(she was on soy, and it was regular formula) so I couldn't give it to her. You could give it to a friend?

No, don't switch it. Baby tummies are so sensitive, it's best to stick with whatever is working. Dump it if you can't find someone that can use it.

I agree with the other ladies. Plus, the number two allergy in babies is soy. Emily was allergic to both milk and soy as a baby.

I used 1 scoop every couple of bottles once they were about 9 months old and their immune system was more mature. Be really careful though. Soy can constipate a baby who's not used to it.

I agree. Soy formula shouldn't be given to babies who don't need it. If you really feel like you have to use it, I'd wait until he was older like Lori said.

We had samles of soy formula too. I gave it to a shelter.

If you need to use it to save money than go ahead. Until I was on WIC, my kids (Zach & Haley) used whatever I had and never had any problems. I wouldn't mix them though... he could end up prefering the taste of mixed and then you'd be screwed needing to mix them all the time.

i wouldn't do it unless you really needed to use it.

Maybe check your local shelters, mom's groups, or peds office to see if anyone might want to trade? I would not switch....especially in a young baby.

Do not switch! Especially if he isn't having any problems with the formula you have them on. Even switching brands can cause tummy issues. If you are going to use it, I wuold wait until he is over 9 months or so like Lori suggested.

Thanks ladies. I'm going to have to switch brands in about a month, WIC only allows one brand and I didn't realize that so I stocked up on Similac. They only allow Nestle Goodstart.

Really? Our WIC allows Enfamil.

Ya every state is different. I guess it depends on what company they cut a deal with. Nestle Goodstart is made here in Wisconsin so I assume they get a good deal.

Honestly, I tried everything I could get free. I never fed him straight soy, though. I might mix a little in when he got older, but I usually stuck to the regular. My favorite was Good Start. It was cheaper if I had to buy it myself and he tolerated it really well. (And our sitter liked the size of the canisters better)

I wouldnt switch from regular to soy. But i would keep it because when Will got stomach bug and needed to not drink anything with cows milk and he needed to only have soy milk for 1 week so I hung onto it.

I agree with the switching; I've heard it's a bad idea. However, Haley was purely on soy after my milk dried up and she never had the spit up problems that my nephews did with regular formula. I guess every kiddo is different though.
