Staying dry at night

Aaron is fully potty trained during the day but not at night. The pediatrician said to put him in underwear at night and in two week he should stay dry all night. It's been three nights and I'm tired of getting up once or twice a night and change wet jammies, undies and bed sheets. Should I continue with this? What did you all do?

If he is still taking a sippy cup get rid of em. Payton drinks a LOT less now that she is using a 'big girl' cup. I also make sure that she goes potty before bedtime and has limited amount of fluids after dinner. She still has accidents from time to time though. Good luck!

i hadn't thought of putting him in underwear. we have the same problem, although some mornings he is dry.

I'm going to have to try that one! Thanks Pam!

Definitely cut back on drinks after dinner. You can also try waking him up right before you go to bed to make him go to the bathroom. That worked for my daughter. However, my almost 9 year old still wets the bed several times a month and my almost 5 year old is in pull-ups at night. I didn't take my daughter out of pull-ups at night until she was 5 either but she probably could have done it earlier. I was a bed-wetter as a child so I think there's something hereditary involved. With me (and my oldest) it's a matter of sleeping too deeply to wake up. He still doesn't wake up if he wets the bed. He just sleeps wet all night Since your son seems to wake up when he's wet, he probably has a good chance of staying dry at night.

we are trying this now with rhyne, and so far so good. She seems to stay dry at night but if she doesn't get to the bathroom first thing in the morning then she pees in her pants

I would limit the drinking to nothing 2 hours before bedtime and make sure he potties before he lays down.

I also check on rhyne when I get ready to go to bed (2 hours after she does) and see if she is still dry just in case so I can kind of target when she does it.

Well I gave up and put him in a diaper. The funny thing is that he has stayed dry in a diaper but not undies. As a matter of fact, he woke up at 5:30am and told me he had to go potty and went in the toilet and came back and fell back asleep. He has Balanitis right now (infection of the foreskin) so I don't know if that was contributing to his being wet alot. He had been peeing alot more with the infection, and now that's he is on meds and feeling better, he hopefully should stay drier. He had been doing really well up to that point. So there is hope...

Aw, sorry. Boys just take longer I guess. It is their last vestige of babyhood though. After that, they are "big boys."

I still put Justin in a pull up at night for that reason. With 3 kids I can't be getting up all night to change sheets and clothing. Sometimes he wakes up dry and other times he doesn't. When I notice consistently that he is dry all night, then I will go to underwear at night.

Trey will be 5 in March We still use a pull up for him. I have to make sure he uses the bathroom and there are no fluids before bed and then sometimes we are dry.

I was a bed wetter too so I know that I am not pushing the subject.

Brittany was dry for 5 years at night and started wetting the bed this summer. It is down to like once a month now with her but I just have to deal with that one.
