As I understand it, Mardi Gras is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, so it's February 20st this year.
I would LOVE to do a Mardi Gras cruise, but it certainly not in the cards for this year.

I thought it was coming up sooner than that.
I wonder if there is a way to celebrate it without alchol or beads? I can't drink and I can't have beads around a new baby.

Seriously, though - I've seen sparkly hats, feathers, masks, etc. Maybe you could have Kate decorate a simple mask for herself? Check out www.orientaltradingcompany.com for ideas - they have lots of stuff pretty cheap, but you'd have to buy in bulk, so I usually use them for ideas if I can't buy 144 of something.

This year, the parades start the first weekend of Feb and Mardi Gras day is Feb 20th.
Even though I live in New Orleans, I do not go to the parades. I've never really liked going, and I definatly will not take the girls out to parades until they ask to go. Since they are only 3, they don't enen know what Mardi Gras is yet. I don't think parades are safe for little ones. The crowdes are too big and a lot of the people are drunk.
