I disagree. I think they are just doing the best they can. My dh lost a relative in a flood that was covered extensively by the media. His family refused to talk to the media which I thought was a mistake. I felt that if they had painted a sympathic picture of his uncle the lawsuit settlement would have been much larger than it was.

I think by painting a sympathic image of their son to the world, they are trying to ensure the maximum sentence for Michael Devlin. Plus I think they are really trying to encourage parents of lost/abducted children to keep up the good fight. I think they are also showing whether they mean to or not that sexual abuse of boys is just as serious as when it happens to girls.

I don't think they are bad parents. Compared to what he's already been through - I don't think this is going to hurt him anymore. Also, he's a teenager not a young child. He can to a certain extent decide for himself what he wants to say and do. It's not like he's five. He's 15. He can clam up and refuse if he likes.
