Destiny Got Ticks!! I think..

This house that weve moved into has carpet, well when moved in, the carpet looked nice and clean. well on Tuesday I took Destiny a bath and was brushing her hair. I saw these lil brown stuff on her hair, it was four of them. at first i thought it was banana she had ate from that morning. so i got a wippee to get it out. well when i took a closer look at it, i saw it had legs. so i started freakin out and asking raymond if this was lice, becaue ive never seen lice before. i started getting all panic of course. so we werent sure. so i called my mom and she said mostly lice are white tiny spiders. so i looked online and i didnt see anything that looked like what i found. soooo i saw there was no eggs or anything. so i thought maybe my childcare kid brought it home from school or something. so i started checking our family hair and nothing. sooooo.. i called her doctor and told her. i described them as best as i could and she said it sounds like it may be a tick.. she asked if i had dogs i said no. soooo than it hit me.. that she must have gotten it from the carpet since she does crawl on the floor.. i dont know but either way she said i couldnt do anything but when i see one to take it out. i have to scrub her walls down, wash her sheets in hot water and just bathe her daily which i always do. so i told the owner and hes going to replace the whole carpet in our home. i hope i dont see any today. poor destiny

It could still be head lice. They are actually brown/black with legs. The only part that is white are these ITTY BITTY lil white dots that stick to the hair shaft. Those are the eggs. I would definitely take her in to the dr if you are unsure. Head lice are a b!tch to get rid of! Good luck!

Ewww yuck. The only other thing I can think besides ticks would be fleas but they tend to jump away when messed with. Did they come off easily or did you have to pull them off her scalp? I think getting the whole carpet replaced is a really good idea!

Oh and there is an article in the "school age kids" forum about headlice and treating it.

it was on her scalp. i was able to take them off her head oka. when i spoke to her dr she told that right now there wasnt anything for me to do but to just take it out. there no treatment for her because shes still a baby. i didnt see no white eggs on her hair. i told her dr i should take her in but she said they wouldnt be able to do anything for her. i shouldnt have changed her on the carpet when we first moved in. weve vacuum and shampoo the carpet but she still not crawling on it. i hope we get the new carpet soon.
