I don't really think it deserved an apology. The war shouldn't have happened. While I do believe that those lives are precious it was a waste that they died in a war we shouldn't have been in.

I agree Mel. I think he meant it the way it sounded, their lives were wasted on a war that he doesn't agree with. And.. I happen to agree with the war. To a point.

OK let me clarify what I said. I do believe we need a base or two over there. I do not agree that we need to be patrolling the entire country the way we are. We gave them democracy.. let them learn to use it. We've shown them that if we need to come kick butt, we will. Now, it's their turn to prove to themselves that they can run their own country.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on whether or not we should be over there, but the last thing that a military family wants to hear from a politician is that their loved one's life was a waste. The majority of the service men/women that have died over there, did so believing in what they were fighing for. It's foolish, as someone hoping to lead those same troops, to pronounce that our military members died in vain.

I certainly didn't mean that I think they died in vain, I'm so sorry if it came across that way.
