Walmart to stop selling fabric?

I know this is apparently old news, but I only just found it (while searching on about.sewing.com)

Goodness, I hope they don't completely cut it out (no pun intended). Sometimes it's just easier to pick up fabric and such there. Not a lot of selection, but if you know what you want, you can easily save yourself the extra trip to the fabric shop.

The one I always go to has already stopped - it's completely cleared out

I seriously hope they don't cut it all out, there are VERY few places here to get fabric. Ok, not that I sew but.. still sometimes there are fabrics I want. I can hand sew.

Yep .. my mother works in the fabric department at Wally World .. 100% gone!!! No more fabric because they can't compete with the other fabric stores.

It depends on your local market. Ours has actually expanded in my town. We have a lot of sewers here and only one extremelly high priced fabric store.

Ours still has tons of fabric. I wonder if it's regional?

Wow...that's news to me. All of our Wally Worlds still have it. I'm not a seamstress, but occasionally I do need something.....love that they have it.

Perhaps it's regional? I'll have to watch....

We have complaints about Walmart right now. Because they are stocking only what is super popular in their stores. So if fabric isn't super popular, it's out. Several food items we enjoyed are no longer stocked along with several other things. You may find that a lot of items you purchased there are gone because they weren't popular enough.

My mother works at Walmart and they had the meeting about a year ago .. they've actually expanded and are still buying fabric .. it should take 4 years but according to her Regional manager is it all Walmarts .. they are loosing $$ in the fabric department.

I don't see how they are in my town. When there's actually someone there to cut fabric, there's always a long line. The problem is finding someone to actually cut it. Only the determined get fabric the rest of the time. When people see someone actually in crafts/fabric, they flock over. I hope they don't close in my area, because the other fabric store doesn't sell anything under $5 a yard. It's not economical to sew if the fabric alone costs more than a store bought garment.

I hope none of ours stop. I love some of the fabric that they have....and some of their prices are way better than the Fabricland that i go to
