Potty Training... HELP HELP HELP

I started potty training my son about 7 months ago. For a little bit he was doing good except for pooping in the potty. Now he is not doing hardly either of them. He does pee in the potty some. But I have to change his underwear or pullup at least 4-5 times a day. I have tried a lot of things. Does anyone have any ideas? He is starting preschool in August so I really got to get him going.

Are you using any incentive? Even a sticker chart can be enough to encourage some kids to go.
...Make a huge deal about getting to put a sticker on the chart.

I think it is harder with boys. They tend to get wrapped up in their play and don't want to take the time to go to the bathroom. My son is almost six and I still see him dancing around to avoid having to get up from his game.

I agree Elaine... boys can be hard to train.. Jacob was really hard (he had to do it in his own time), but Nathan was easy... i think it just depends on the child!

With Boys it is harder. Logan did well because he wanted to be a big boy at daycare. But that was when he was 18 months old. He still wears a pulled up to bed. He is wet 5 out of 7 nights. Samantha was a breeze day time was by 2 years and night time was a few weeks after.

I have been trying the sticker chart and he has this computer game that he is not allowed to play until he goes a whole day using the potty so I am hoping these two things work. I need to get back into taking him every 2 hours or reminding him. That worked well. Its just hard to do that sometimes! It's good to hear that I was right and boys are harder. Of course, I worked when my DD was training and her nannie did the most of that so I didn't get much experience there. Just keep your fingers crossed for me!!!!

I had a really hard time with my first son, he is now 5 and up until he was in his 4's, I thought I would have the only kid who still pooped in his pants at times. It was always a struggle. Now he is fine. Other than the skid marks left behind.

I have a 3 year old, which I thought would start early to be like his big brother. He did very well for the last year peeing on the potty and would occasionally poop. Now he won't do either. Not even at daycare. I learned from the first child the more you pressure and urge, the longer they take to go. So I am trying not to pressure him. Now DH on the other hand....

We tried stickers, treats, singing potties, high fives, cheers.... whatever. I just learned when they are ready, they will do it.

My nephew gave my sister a hard time potty training. It definitely took a lot of patience. Diana, I was the same way with Emily. I had foot surgery, and Emily stayed with my MIL for a couple of days. When she came home, she was potty trained. That was great, but then again, I have no idea what to do when the time comes with Travis. Right now, MIL lives with us, and she will probably keep living with us, so at least I will most likely have her here to help again.
I think reminding him every couple of hours is a good idea, too. It is hard to remember, but when you do, then remind him, and don't worry too much when you get too busy to remember.

I definately try to remind him but it is easy to forget. I watched a little boy for a couple weeks and he was potty trained and that made a big difference b/c everytime he went Devin would. I am trying to have patience. Guess I am just worried more b/c he is supposed to start preschool in August. But maybe he just needs to go at his own pace. And like you, my first child was trained by her nannie mainly so I have had no clue with Devin. I am just keeping my fingers crossed. Rewarding him with a sticker when he does go and just hoping for the best! I really appreciate the advice guys. It does help!
