My Father

When he was moving out he told both Mike and me that he would pay the current utility bill as previously discussed. So now he's trying to NOT pay it by having us put down to the penny the amount of money that he cost us by living here. He did give us some money about $600 so that has to be subtracted as well.

ALL I WANT IS THE UTILITY BILL PAID!!! He said he was going to. It's the principal of the thing, that he's trying to go back on his word about it.

Mike is even more pissed off then I am since my dad called Mike about this. Mike is currently working on a spreadsheet with all of the bills on it. Mike's literally looking back in the check book for groceries, utilities everything and splitting it into thirds. My dad will NOT be happy with the amount there.

I know that even doing this is a bad idea, that we shouldn't play into it because my dad is going to say he did things around the house (garbage, dishes etc) but honestly if he hadn't been here I would have done them too. It's a bad argument. The only place you can quantify what someone cost is in utilities and food.

UGH

Well, maybe whatever Mike can come up with can prove to your Dad what a BUTT he is being about it.

That's one of my HUGEST pet peeves... DO WHAT YOU SAY YOU WILL... be a person of your word. It's not that difficult.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with it. At least you are getting him out before he drains you all of any other money and energy.

Ya well Mike figured it out, to the penny. It's a measly $124 he owes...about the amount of the utility bill. So wouldn't it have been easier to just pay it?

I'm mostly just mad because he didn't keep his word. Isn't it parents that are supposed to teach their children to keep their word

At Sam's session today we got into the allowence debate. Her therapist feels that a family should work as a team. Basic chores should not be covered under an allowance and should just be done. Its called teamwork and every one pitches in to help. So if he is gonna bring up the garbage or dishes then you bring up all the stuff around the house that you did for the household as a team
