Ok, Shawn has been on Adderall now since right before Xmas. He has been doing really well on it, great even. Until about 2 weeks ago. And it's not that he is getting hyper again - he has become very destructive.I mean, it's like everytime i so much as blink, the boy is trying to break anything he can. In the living room, he rips the curtains down, throws the cushions off the couchspits drinks all over the place. In the kitchen he's constantly dumping stuff in the sink or garbagesmearing food/drinks on the floor/walls. In the bathrooom he's shoving stuff in the toilet and trying yto use our hairbrushes and toothbrushes to clean it!
Today he got into all my extra contacts ( I wear disposables changed monthly and i still had 6 months worth) and flushed every last one! I almost went through the roof. He walks through the room and will just sweep everything off any table or counter he passes. Every piece of paper he picks up he tries to shred. And half the time he tries to eat the pape...! If he passes a drink he wants to dump it on the floor. No kind of discipline has helped at all.. The only change I've noticed is that his appetite has increased( and i didn't think it was possible.) It's almost ridiculous how much he is eating.... Today alone (he got up at 6 and is now 11) he has eaten - 2 cereal bowls of grapes, a banana, two bowls of cereal, a large bag of cheetos, half a jar of peanuts, a PB&J sandwich, two apples, 3 cups of milk and two juice boxes. He's always been a big eater, from the day he was born, but it's getting ridiculous. And he's really not a big child either. He's almost 5 and is tall for his age but very skinny( i can wear 12-18 month size pants on him as shorts cuz they fit him perfect in the waist).
The only way I've found to stop him behaving so destructively is to make him stay right next to me at all times. But that is so completely impractical. Ever attempt to do dishes while trying to make a hyperactive 4 yr old sit still?
It just doesn't work. This morning i put him in his room after the contact thing, but he's ripping his books and trying to smash his toys. I've been crying cuz i'm just frustrated and i don't understand....

Maybe he has developed a reaction/intolerance to the medication. If he was not like this before his meds, he should not be like this now.
I would be calling your Dr ASAP....it may be that the meds need to be adjusted or even changed altogether......you can't keep going on living this way....its hard on you and I am sure its hard on him too
