What could these sores be?

TJ has a couple of sores on his upper lip. One is right on the lip, the other is closer to his nose. They started out just looking like dry patches of skin, but now, they have gotten larger and are all crusty and red. At dinner, he was whining that his mouth hurt him, so I looked inside and noticed 2 blister-looking patches on the roof of his mouth.

Think this is anything I should be concerned about?

I forgot to mention (but doubt it matters) that he had a nasty stomach virus last weekend and a chicken pox booster about 2 weeks ago.

I'm kind of wondering that myself. Would there be lots of bumps though?

I think this may be it:

Quote:
Impetigo
Impetigo is a skin infection caused by bacteria. The infection often begins when bacteria that normally can be present on the skin enter a small cut or scratch.

Symptoms of impetigo include honey-colored, crusty, oozing blisters or sores, most often between the upper lip and nose. The blisters commonly occur after a cold. The sores can appear anywhere on the body. Scratching the blisters may spread impetigo to other parts of the body. Impetigo is more common in children than adults.

Impetigo is most often treated with antibiotics.
I guess I'll have to call the doctor tomorrow

They sound kind of like the sores Joey had on his nose... which turned out to be strep. Best to get him checked out.

I'd get him checked too.

Sounds almostlike the boy that had Chicken pox this last week at school. Call the doc.

Ouch!

I think Jonathan had impetigo or hand/foot/mouth about two years ago. I can't remember the exact diagnosis, but the sores sound very smilar.

Turned out to just be cold sores, so they gave him an anti-viral for that. But, good thing I went .. he also had a sinus infection. Poor guy!
