moms of tall kids

Well I'm going to assume Gabe is going to be tall. Every other man in our family is. Mike and I are looking at the next carseat because he's NOT going to fit in the baby one til a year.

I'm curious what seats the ladies with tall kids use. I want to use the same seat as long as possible. I *THINK* I'm sold on the Britax brand really but I want other input.

Anyone have a Britax anything? I was thinking about the Marathon but I'm leaning toward the Decathlon now because it has adjustable crotch straps and I've been told that helps for tall boys. It also allows for the most height growth but I've heard the adjuster for tightening the straps is a PITA, especially when it's rear facing.

I wanna know what you have, if you like it, if you would get it again, or what you hate about it and what you would get different.

The more information I read the less I know story of my life.

I know that feeling all too well. Jonathan exceeded the height and weigth requirements before he met the age requirement.

I don't know a whole lot about Britax.

I had an Evenflo Titan after he outgrew the baby seat. I really liked it. He was in that until he was almost 4.

Well I don't have a boy and my children aren't tall but...

Two were out of baby seats at 6mo. YOu know what I have and honestly I hate it.

So we are in the market for new seats too.

Well Samantha is ans was tall. But that was so long ago I cant remeber what I had and what I liked and didnt like about it. Logan is a shortie and weight wise a little to average guy. I still have him in a high back, non harness, booster seat. He will stay in that till he doesnt need one anymore. Which will be foreer the way he grows lol.

The more I look at them the more I think I'm just going to get the Marathon. A lot of people had problems with the tightener on the Decathlon. It's a shame really because if it weren't for that I'd be getting that.
Target has the Marathon and roundabout IN store.
Babies R Us has Marathon, Decathlon and roundabout. I'm pretty sure the Roundabout is out because he's just going to be too tall for it before he'd out weigh it.

I'm going to eventually head to BRU to test them out. Supposedly they let you take them to your car even to try them in it. I'm probably NOT going to buy it there though since you can find them online for cheaper even with shipping. I just have to start looking now because I need to save up for it.

Karen--Were the girls too big for the baby carrier by 6 months or did you just get sick of lugging them in it? I hope I have til 6 months

HOw long is he now?? Is he already over average on height?? I say this bc Ed and his family are tall but Logan isnt and Samantha is so it may be too early to know unless he is already showing that he is going to be tall.

He's already in the 90th percentile for height. Pretty much every man on BOTH sides of our family are tall (with the exception of my FIL).

DH is 6'3" his brother is 6'4" my brother is 6'4" my dad is 6'2" and I'm 5'8". I'd be surprised if he isn't a tall kid I'd make fun of him (jk)

I have the Alpha Omega and I love it.It goes from infant to toddler to booster....holds up to 100 lbs(I think) and Jess is 4 now, and tall yet still fits very nicely in it even with the straps, despite the fact he is over 40 lbs(which is when most kids don't fit in the straps anymore. In fact it still holds my 6 year old comfortably. It is easy to adjust the height and tighten or loosen the straps, it reclines fairly easily too. The straps do twist a little but I have had about 5 car seats and have only ever had one(a toddler/high back booster) that didn't twist. The only real pain is it has a "puzzle" buckle where you fit the two sides together before sliding them in the latch, but I have read somewhere that that is the best thing because if it goes closed you KNOW it is fastened right, where as other seats you can latch , but not have latched properly. But it is by far the best car seat I have ever had.

you might also want to take a look at this web site.....some car seats are really incompatable with certain cars.

Here is a link to the Alpha omega

Britax did not get a good report on Consumer Reports - you might want to check out what they show to be the best seats.

Alyssa was over the height at 6 months (hers at the time only went to 24 inches)

Kate is was summer so I plopped her in the cart or stroller - no more lugging -

Peyton I will move around 6 months too (or when I can afford her new seat)

See it's funny that you've heard that Britax didn't get a good consumer report because I've heard NOTHING but good things about them from everyone, even the CPS people.

I've check the website, my car isn't listed with most seats. Since people and volunteers do the info it's not very complete, but I have a sizable 4 door sedan and I'm pretty sure just about any seat will fit from what I've read about their sizes.

my kids are both tall, but i just use a regular car seat....I didn't know you could get ones with adjustable crotch straps or I would have done that for both my kids. By the time they turned 3 they absolutely hated being in carseats because the straps around their legs hurt them or at least made them uncomfortable.....winters are the worst because of snowsuits and stuff

My dd's is a Costco I think. I got it at Kmart. We really like it. It's rated from 5 to 100 lbs. The rate she's growing now, she will be in it until she's 20.

The problem is they expire after 6 years so will you end up having to get another one if she's that tiny?

I imagine so.
