Have you had "the Talk" yet?

okay, so last summer when Tessa started to develop up top I talked to her about her period etc... We will have that talk again this summer (it's a birthday thing for us) and again till she has it. Thankfully other than developing a small chest we have no other signs of that coming on. SO I thought I was off the hook for awhile...

A few days ago on her way to bed she tells Jim and I "I know how babies are made..." So we asked her how. I'm expecting the stork or something along those lines...

Nope... "The man puts his boy parts in the woman and that's how you get a baby, but I don't really understand it"... Alarm bells went off for me and Jim, so we asked her why she thought this, remember she isn't even 8 till June. Turns out they watched some show at school about animals, which included animals mating. She put two and two together and figures this is how babies are made. I hate that she is so damn smart sometimes. She still believes in fairies and Santa Claus and such... I'm not ready for this.

But, obviously now we are going to have to have a simplified version of the talk in the very near future. Any advice or pointers from Mom's who have been there already?

the truth. Duncan asked questions about that when I was pregnant with Kyan and he was only 5 lol. She's smart enough Heather to handle the truth, but I personally would keep it as simple and short as possible. Thank God most of the time all I have to say to Duncan is.. that's not something I'm ready to talk about just yet. But.. when he asks specific questions we answer them as honestly as we can without being.. too graphic. Good luck

Glad it's you and not me j/k

She did ask when I was pregnant with Karah, but was satisfied with just Mommy and Daddy made her with help from God. She didn't ask about boy parts going into girl parts... I will be truthful, I try to always be just looking for ideas and support. I don't want her to be this grown up

She's really old enough to get a simple talk about how things work. My friend Sarah's 5 year old girl can tell you about how babies are made. She knows all the technical terms. I see nothing wrong with having a simple talk with her. (funny note, she thought that a vagina was called a Virgina for awhile)

I plan to have THE TALK continuously with Gabe. We already use anatomical names for parts when talking to him or changing his diaper. It's way worse for the parents then the kids.

This is tough one. I agree with the ladies tell the truth.
