Projectile Vomiting

Isaiah isn't sick with th flu or anything and it only happens when I give him milk(but not everytime). Today he drank 5 ounces of milk and then projectile vomited all over the floor. I don't know if he drank it too fast or what. I do know that ever since he was a newborn and was on milk based formula he would throw it up and get diarrhea alot. No one ever said it was something to be concerned about so I figured it was normal. I eventually tried Soy based forula at 6 months and the puking and diarrhea stopped. I was just wondering if he could be lactose intolerate or something?

I would talk to my dr, but assume so. My older dd was the same way on milk products. There are a lot of good rice milks and soy milks out there. I prefer rice milk, because soy milk makes me gassy. I am also allergic to milk.

Cori was the projectile vomiting princess. I put her on soy and that pretty much solved that problem. Hailey was also like that (but not as bad as Cori) so she was also switched to soy. I was worried about them being lactose intolerant (I am at least 50% of the time) but when I took them off formula, they were able to drink milk with no problems.

He drinks whole milk now. Would be okay to switch him to Soy Milk? He did really well on the baby formula. I have to make another appt for him this month for a check up because the doctor was concerned about his weight so I guess I could bring it up then.

Oh wow!

It wouldn't hurt to try. I'd definitely ask the doctor about it, too.

some babies too are just pukers and eventually outgrow it. Both my kids were like that....especially Nicholas. It didn't matter if I fed him breastmilk, regular milk or soy

My children are PROFESSIONALS when it comes to projectile vomiting. I have spent most of my last 2 1/2 years with puke on me somewhere (I kid you not!) ..... If I didn't get it in my shoes/socks it was a GOOD day!

Sounds to me like he definitely ISN'T a fan of anything with lactose in it. I would definitely check with your Ped before switching things around a lot. The switching back and forth can also be a trigger for puking too. (Moreso in formula switches).

Good luck!
