Could this be a yeast allergy?

My darling Hubby has a big tummy, the literal beer keg belly. The rest of him is pretty much muscle.

He has for te second time been trying the no carb diet. Literally in 24/48 hours his stomach is visibly smaller and no longer as tight as a drum. He has only lost 2pds though.

As he is not drinking beer or eating bread I'm wondering if yeast could cause the intense swelling he gets.

Sometimes after a can of beer his stomach is so swollen it hurts, and you literally cannot poke his tummy and make a dent.

What else could cause such a strange reaction? Both of his sisters have celiac's but he does not, he was tested when his sisters found out.

I wonder if it is possible to test neg. for celiac's but still be sensitive because of the familial link?

It could be cutting out sugar consumption as well. There are numerous studies that say excess sugar is stored as fat and that it goes straight to the gut area. I know that if I completely cut sugar out of my diet, my stomach will visibly go down as well.

Something else you might want to look into ... while he's cutting out the yeast, start supplmeneting with acidpholus pills. That is supposed to balance out the good/bad bacteria in the gut.

I have read somewhere in the past, and I can't remember where....that if you gain most if not all of your weight around your middle then you at least have a sensitivity to yeast....that is why, for some people, the low-no carb diet works so well....you are completely cutting out the foods that you have a secret allergy/sensitivity to.
