My 8 yo has been diagnosed with ADHD (back when she was 5) and I was wondering if there was anyone else in a similar situation?

Yay! (well not yay, but you know) Its nice to know I am not alone!! It feels that way sometimes and its hard to get support from people who don't know what its like.

Cassidy is doing fairly well.....no flames please....but we have her on medication, concerta once a day and seroquel at night (her dr believes her to also have a mood disorder). Life with Cass is interesting to put it mildly. She is doing ok in school....she is very smart but often has a hard time with school work, keeping on track etc., life without meds is way different...although i think we are back on the track of finding the right dose, she has been on the decline for about a month. we go back monday for our monthly visit.

We do reward charts as well as go to a councelor, so meds are not the only action we have taken and that goes fairly well....but man am i exhausted!

I had Haley on Concerta for a little while and while it improved her school work immensly and for the first time she would sit down and read a book, it also made her really moody. She would cry at the drop of a hat. We are trying a non-stimulant Strattera right now. It takes a while to get in her system and start showing whether or not it is going to work for her so we are just kind of waiting right now...

Yeah, we tried Straterra and it did nothing for Cass....she has also tried Adderall (which worked for while). Best of luck Elaine, I hope Straterra works for her!

My daughter was diagnosed when she was 7. She took medadate till a year ago. 4 years on it. It worked pretty well. She is now just on anti d's because she is old enough and learned most of the tricks for adhd. My 5 year old son is on daytrana (patch) and does alot better but also has some ODD and depression too so he is on zoloft too. Girls tend to be more emotional while they boys have they hyperness which is very true in my house. But with the meds he is able to do well in school and like my daughter he likes himself much better one meds and in control.
