What are some things you wish someone had told you, either about the birth/labor or actually having a child at home.

That labor isn't really as scary as you think it is

It doesn't happen like on TV, you will have enough time to get to the hospital (esp for your first child)

How incredibly hard it was to have a newborn at home, how utterly clueless I would be, and that mother nature didn't just kick in.

hmm... i think just the fact that it takes so LONG to heal afterwards.. and the after pains (those were the WORST!!)

You were probably still doped up that you didn't feel them.

I dunno I wasn't doped up long. I could walk around after half an hour, do they end that quick? I never even heard about them. Good thing too or I would have been freaking out that they would be painful

Mel, I think they're more noticeable if you're nursing...I had major cramping after I had all mine, but that's a good thing...the nursing helps shrink your uterus quicker.

i didn't nurse.. but i had Horrible cramps and back pains after i had both my boys... it's possible that everyone doesn't get them...

That 0-3 clothes do not fit size 0's LOL.

that thrush on your breasts can last 10 months

That not all moms and babies take to nursing naturally.

That baby boys will pee anytime their penis' are uncovered

That formula does not smell good either going in or coming out

that bathing a baby is a lot like grabbing a greased pig

that there are times you feel like the worst mother in the world even when you're doing everything right.

That somehow.. someway.. you CAN love your second +++++ as much as your first, that your heart just.. expands.

How absolutely WONDERFUL a shower that lasts more than 45 seconds would feel !!

So true!

I wish my mother had just shut up. It wasn't nearly as bad as she made it sound and I had two c-sections and she had natural deliveries at a much younger age!

How your due date is almost never accurate and it's actually something that will drive you crazy in the end if you think about it too much. I was 9 days overdue. What a bummer!!!
