I have to brag on my guys! Yesterday my DH and DS had a Tae Kwon Do tournament. They both took silver medals!! In our tournies they each fight one match(3-1minute rounds) then if they win that match, they have to fight the other matches winner to determine place. Josh won his first match and did awesome, great technique and form. The boy he beat was a two ranks above him(DS is high-blue, and this kid was level one high red, there are 3 levels of red before you test for black, level 3 being the highest red belt)Then for his second match he had to fight his buddy from TKD class and he held back too much so he lost(it's really hard for him to match with his friends or girls
, go figure
)
Then DH was put up against a LEVEL 2 red belt(DH is also a high-blue). DH is about 6 foot and 198lbs, the guy he was against was about 6'3 and 220....
, all the adults(including the other red belts) at the tourny were afraid they were going to have to fight this guy because he is awesome. But the instructor pulled out DH and said "because he knows each guys ability he knew DH should pit against him". Kinda an insult to the other red belts saying they couldn't handle it but a blue belt could, but that is what he did. I think the other red belts were glad.
Well the first round they were pretty nicely matched, DH was right on with his kicks and they were doing great. Then in the second round DH threw an awesome back kick and knocked the guy out
. It scared the day lights out of DH. While they were gettin' the big guy back on his feet DH was just shaking, he was so scared he had really hurt the guy. It was a perfect kick though and the Master came over and told him that that was the best TKD he had ever seen at these tournaments. They went the third round but the Master had coached the other guy to stay right on Shawn and not let him get any kicks in, just to stay close and punch, because he was afraid the guy wasn't really up to form and could get hurt if DH got in another kick
. DH won the match of coarse(to the gall of the judge who hates DH) For DH's second match he was up against the judges pet student. DH was nailing all his kicks and the other guy was getting very few kicks. Then the other jerk started calling "low kick" every time they were facing away from the judge and the ref, and DH would get in a good kick, which let the crooked judge dock points from Shawn. Everyone in the audience who was seeing it was saying something, but the judge kept ignoring them. The one shot DH kicked the guy in the chin(he was facing away from the referee but the judge had to see that kick) and the guy bent over and yelled "low kick", the entire audience, even the "home teams" people were saying "WHAT???", DH still got docked :
Needless to say DH lost that match, and took silver instead of the gold he should have had. The Master came over to DH after it was over and said that next tournament he is gonna find judges that don't teach any of the classes, because it had become glaringly obvious the judge was playing favorites. The master owns and runs all these classes so he can't come right out and say anything or over ride with out looking like he is playing favorites, which could hurt his business.
But my guys did AWESOME!!!
