My kid is teeny

Brenna is so little... I've been holding out for a growth spurt but it just doesn't seem like it's coming. At 12 months she is just at 18lbs and 27in. in height. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, that puts her in the 10th percentile for weight and not even on the chart for height. A huge amount of her clothes are still 3 - 6 months although she can also wear some 6 - 9 or 6 - 12. She's still in a sz 2 shoe which is classified as 3 - 6 months. I doubt she is going to fit any of the summer clothes that I bought for her months ago.
Has anyone else had a baby on the extreme end of the scale?

Not quite that extreme, but Elizabeth weighed 13lbs15oz at her 6 month checkup.I think it was about 20th%. My 5 yo son only weighs about 33 lbs and my 7 year old daughter weighs only 42 lbs. They're in the 20th% for both height and weight.

Rach weighed 16 lbs at her 1 year checkup

Alyssa was like 17 pounds at a year. She's still on the tiny end of the scale

Well I feel better then.
After looking at the chart though I realized that there is only a 6lb difference in the 100th percentile and the 5th. While I know 6lbs is a great deal more to an infant than it is in an adult, it still seems like a small variation from one end to the other.

wow she is a peanut. Gabe's already 25.5 inches long and 14 lbs 11 oz. He's too tall for the infant carrier now too

She'll be glad she's a petite thing when she's 16

hey someone has to balance out my kids Greg was 22.5" long the day he was born!

My 3 sons have always been in the 95 percentile and by the time they were 13 all three of them where in the 99 percentile range.

So while I have huge great strapping boys you guys balance them out by having delicate daughters

Yep, you have a petite lil peanut.

Ryan's on the other end of the scale.... He's 26.3 pounds and is 27 or 28 inches tall....
Oooh my achin' back!

PJ is 4 and weighs 27 pounds. The other day she got into the box with her old clothes and put on pants that were 6-9month. Not only did they fit her, but they were baggy in the tush. (They fit her like capris.)

Emily is 32 pounds and is usually smaller than other kids her age.

I logan is 44 lbs 44 inches, he is 5.5 he can wear his 3t shorts still, his jeans are 4t. He has actually grown 1 in in the past 2.5 months (thanks to med checks or I would have no clue lol) I just did an online chart and he is 50% for height and weight. He is broad shouldered so fully dressed he looks average but stiped naked he is skinny. We keep a close on on his growth bc of the meds he is on but still he has always been slow to grow. He is gonna be a shorty like me where Sam is going to be extreamly tall like her dad.

Isaiah was on the lower end of the percentage scale for awhile. As soon as he started eating table food at 18 months he gained a pound in a month!

she is tiny, but strong, i hope she fits the clothes that you bought her!

Elaine--Noah is the same age as Brenna and he's about 16-17 lbs and 28" by my best estimate. He goes to the doc's for his 12 month on Monday. I'll let you know his stats then. He's always been on the small side so I'm not too concerned. He has his all his milestones early thus far. He started walking at 10 months and I relaxed a little. He doesn't seem too thin to me.

His brother is about 31 lbs and tall at almost 3 years. So I hope he follows in his footsteps.

Elaine,
Meghan is going to be 3 in August and she is tiny, too. She is only 27 pounds at best and 33 inches tall. Brenna will be fine.

If I recall correctly, Ally was only about 16 pounds at her 1 year checkup. She was born long and skinny and has stayed that way. She turned 6 this past January and only weighed in at 40 pounds. We have to buy he a size 6 in pant to get the lenght she needs, but she is still wearing her size 4 shorts! She in only in the 20-30th percentile for weight, and the 50th percentile for height. But she is healthy as a horse. Compared to Drew, she is tiny. At her age he was almost 50 pounds and at least 2-3 inches taller. Brenna sounds fine to me, she's just gonna be svelte! LOL!

Haley and Zach are both very thin at their current ages but they were average roly-poly babies. Brenna doesn't seem that "thin" to me... she just has a tiny feeling all around. I'm not horribly worried now that she is starting to take some steps... but for a while I was convinced it was her tiny size (and tiny feet) that kept her crawling for so long.
I may just end up with a lot of nice clothes to ebay for next summer.

My two are considered way small too....

Jaycob will be three in Sept. He just hit 25 Lbs! He was at 16 for his 12 month. He's so skinney though that most of his bottoms are still 12 months!! That's a hard one I can tell you!!

Abygail is slightly larger but she is at 23Lbs and she'll be 2 in November.

Now my step daughter.... She is the ultimate of skinny. She'll be 10 in July and she JUST hit 40 Lbs!!!

And my step son wasn't as bad but was about the same until the last few years! Now he's taller then my DH and weighs about what he should! He'll be 13 this month!

Re: My kid is teeny

Well it's two years since I posted this and Brenna is still on the small side. She's gotten some height (not sure exactly) and is weighing in at about 27lbs right now. She's just now getting in to her 2T clothes ... sometimes an 18 - 24 still fits her better.
