livingroom walls?
My walls are bare right now except for a few 5x7 pics near the door. I HATE bare walls but I also don't think they look good with just a few tiny things scattered.
What to do... what to do...

Well my Living room is slightly weird. We have two "window" openings into the kitchen and there is a large painting hung between those openings. Then on the long wall where my TV and bookcase is I have a grouping of three chinese character pictures, next to that is a set of three Katanas.

There's a bird cage hung over my TV (i don't own a bird, it's decorative right now there's a wooly mammoth beanie in it).

I also have a large mirror on one side of the room.

Then we have stairs that go into the basement that are open. There's a HUGE wall there and I have about 20 family pictures on it. I think there's 5 generations up there now. I love walls of family photos though. I can't wait to add more

We have a painting on one wall, a shelf with Jim's Dragons and Wizard above the TV, a needlepoint picture my great aunt made on another wall, and a bunch of family pics framed.

Elaine, something I want to do which might work for you...
Collect a whole bunch of snapshots of the kids, use double sided tape to stick them to the wall in a collage, then go buy a piece of plexiglass, or glass cut to the right size to cover it and hang it over the pics. This would be inexpensive and you could change out the pics as you wanted.

You can't do what I did. We have payruses that dh and I got in the middle east and military awards on the walls. We have one of those cartoon drawings you can get done that we had done instead of a wedding photo, a photo of the two of us and oh yes, a clock. Have to have a clock in every room. I love clocks.

Most of our downstairs are all black and whites of the kids in black frames. Besides clocks, that's all I have up (except the kitchen/eating area).

Our living room is weird. One wall is almost all window (we have really wide windows inthe front) and the front door. One wall is closet doors and built in cabinets (which are UGLY). Fire place on the other wall. Only one remotely solid wall.

I have a couple of framed pictures of Jonathan up in there on each side of the fireplace. On the solid wall, I've gotta bigger picture l(16x20, maybe, that came from Big Lots) and these two brass (?) looking container things that hold flowers (I have ivy in them) that I got from Salvation Army. They're flat on the back and rounded on the front, like a half-basket or something. We do have a picture above the mantle and I have some figurines on the mantle.

Well, actually, a lot of this has been taken down and packed, now that I think about it.

I have one long painting on one wall. One wall is just blank. We have patio doors that take up the whole third wall. And the fourth wall has a pass-through and a door into the kitchen.

I don't know if you can find them here in the states but Islamic prayer rugs are absolutely gorgeous. They are very colorful, ornate and very beautiful. I like to mix up textures on the walls. I guess it comes from being married to an artist, having an artist as an aunt and being surrounded by artists my whole life.

Here's what I am talking about - http://stores.ebay.com/decorativerug...QQftidZ1QQtZkm

If you know someone stationed in the middle east, these are super cheap there. I understand the Iranian ones are the best. Dh has a Turkish medalian floor sized rug that is absolutely gorgeous. Since you are really artistic and crafty, you might want to do something a little offbeat like African or primative stuff. There's some cool Hawaiian stuff coming out now too. I wouldn't limit myself to just pics of family and framed stuff. Some wreathes or textitles can be cool too.

These are soooo pretty - http://www.sheepskindeals.com/index.html

I love the African ones, of course. I love Africa. Now I want one.

Well I emailed up a friend of mine who is a photographer and she sent me her link to browse through her photos. I picked two and she is going to email me the files so I can order some prints in whatever size I need. They are both of the NC mountains/waterfalls
