Would this be a bad idea?

We're moving in a few weeks. Would it be a bad idea to plant new plants in the flower bed? (We're talking less than 12 for a plat of petunias) I mean, I know it would make the front look better if they're going to be showing it to potential renters or buyers. But is it worth the money if you're only there for a few weeks?

If I had them already I would plant them. If I didn't have them already I don't think I would. You have enough things going right now to not need to be adding planting flowers to that list.

plants are always worth the money for showing a house. IF you have the time to do it. It's one of the things they always do on those Sell this house! shows.

Not to offend BUT ... what are thinking Dina!?! You are pregnant and trying to get ready to move! Do you really have the time, energy, and money to plant flowers that aren't even for your enjoyment?

We also sold our house after we'd moved away, and what we did is make arrangements with our realtor for him to have someone come by and water the lawns, mow as needed, etc. Maybe you could check with your realtor and see if he has someone who could do this for you? I think we paid the guy $30 a week, and it came out in realtor costs (so the realtor paid him, not us). You could offer a local high school student some money to take care of things for you, even - and offer them a bit extra for planting flowers, etc.

Selling a home when you're not there is a PITA, believe me - but it does get sold.

Well, it's not our house, so it's not our reponsibility to take care of things once we leave. FIL told me the other night that they do plan to sell. He's dilusional if he think's it's gonna sell within two weeks, though. (He thinks he's sitting on a goldmine, but his goldmine needs windows, carpet, windows, gutters, and who knows what else!) They are coming two weeks after we leave and they're painting everything that we haven't painted, putting down carpet, and checking out the other stuff. He's gonna have some appraisers come in then.

I'm gonna weed the bed and just leave it with the petunias I already put out. When we get moved, I can always plant something there.

Our friends at church last night told me that if I REALLY wanted to plant flowers, I could come to their house.
