(CNN) -- The Rev. Jerry Falwell, the television minister whose 1979 founding of the Moral Majority galvanized American religious conservatives into a political force, died Tuesday at age 73.

I can't say I liked the man or agreed with what he said, but I am shocked he is dead. I figured Pat Robertson would go first. He seems much older.

Yeah, he was pretty overweight also. That can't be good for your heart.

I never liked him and disagreed with alot of his preachings. But you do have to admire someone who stands up, like he did, for what they believe in so fervently! My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I don't agree with everything he said or did, but for the most part, I share his basic moral and religious beliefs. He was an alumnus of one of the colleges I used to work for. In person, he was not pompous at all and seemed like a genuinely nice person. My former boss has actually been working for him for the last 5 years.
