What should I do?

Zach has been complaining of itching for days. I see him digging at his skin and it doesn't seem to be in one specific area. Tonight he woke up crying of it. I've looked him over and see absolutely nothing. He's not on any medication and I haven't started using any new products... of course our entire apartment is new though. Could it be an alergic reaction but show no visible rash? Do you think an antihistimine would help? All I have right now is children's claritin... is there something else that might be better to try? I feel so bad for him.

Hmmm... Even without a rash I guess it could be allegies? Does he have a new bed? I would give him the Claritin for now, but if it was me I would get some Benadryl or equivalent and dose him with that and see if it goes away. If not I would take him to the doc...

I would try children's Benadryl, like Heather said. You could also get some Caladryl to put on the itchy areas - that might help, too. But if it doesn't stop soon, I would definitely take him to the doc. He's obviously having a reaction to something.

I agree. I'd try some Benedryl or somethign equivalent. If it stops, great. If not, I'd definitely take him to a doctor within a couple of days.

Baking soda in the bath can also soothe itching. I hope the itching has gone away now.

Oatmeal baths are good for itching, too. We used to do those for Jonathan because of his eczema.
