Mike and I were outside examining my tires last night and he had pulled out the ruler to see if we could figure out how much tread I had left. Jessi comes out and tells us that we should just use a penny ... if Lincoln's head is totally visible, it's time for new tires.

How come *I* never knew that trick??

I ALWAYS use that. I think my mom told me about it. I wonder where she got it from.

Yeah, I don't know how many inches of tread are required, but I did know the penny trick. I think I got it from my dad, but I don't remember anyhow - it's now in the category of "things I always just knew."
