This is absolutely appalling!
AFN has announced that there is an identity theft scam being targeted at military spouses.
They are recieving phone calls from someone claiming to be with the Red Cross. They are being told that their loved one has been injured in Iraq and is being airlifted to Germany. They are then asked to give their husbands birthdate and social as well as their own.
This is absolutely appalling to me.... On the one hand, most military spouses are aware that the army has all that info, so hopefully not to many have been taken in by this. But this is a military spouse's worst nightmare, and for someone to use that to try and scam just... oh it just upsets me so much!
