Anyone own gerbils? If you also owned hamsters before are they better (i.e. friendlier..easier to handle) than hamsters?

we have two gerbils. We haven't ever had hamsters so I can't say. One of the two has bitten Tessa before. Honestly though we don't handle them very much, just to put them in the ball every few days to let them run around on the floor.

We've had them both but to me they are all nasty little biting rodents. :eww:

I would like to get 2 very young gerbils since they will be easier to tame...then hopefully they won't nip at me when I try to hold them.

I had gerbils in College. They were so noisy, messy and annoying that I gave them away free to a family w/kids.

I have never had gerbils but I had hamsters once. They never bit but they escaped and ran off within weeks of us getting them. The best little pet I had was a rat. They are awesome!
