CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — A one-year-old chow mix apparently turned on its owner, killing her with bites to her throat and arm, authorities said.

Phyllis G. Carroll, 63, was mauled by one of her two black chow mix dogs around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, said Fayette County Coroner Joe Todd.

If people knew she was afraid of her own dogs, then why on earth didn't they do something to help her find new homes for them??? Can you imagine what these people must be feeling now that she has died and they could have possibly prevented it??? I just can't imagine ....

That is too sad! As much as I love dogs, if she was afraid of her dogs she really should have turned them into animal control or to the humane society. I wonder why they became aggressive? They seemed young. I know chows can have a bad reputation (honestly, I wouldn't get one no matter how pretty they can be). The family did the right thing by having them put down before they kill someone else.

horrible.

and the guild will not be fun for the family that didn't get rid of the dogs for her!

I also wonder why she didn't surrender them to animal control if she really feared them? I know the thought of putting a pet down in horrible but if they are agressive to the point that you fear them, it really is the right thing to do.
