In the past nine months, passengers have been kicked off airplanes or detained at airports for uncontrolled coughing, joking about hijacking, breast-feeding a baby, kissing and other amorous activities, cursing at flight attendants who denied them alcohol, failing to get a screaming child buckled in for takeoff, and carrying a sippy cup of water.

This is ridiculous! Why don't airlines just say all small children must be sedated, stuckk in cages and flown with pets in cargo? A sippy cup? Come on. Why was this even a problem in the first place? What parent goes to an airport filled with security with a sippy cup filled with explosives? What parent gives their kid a sippy cup filled with explosives in the first place?
People can watch the news and movies filled with torture, violence of all sorts, folks getting shot, dismembered and all sorts of horrible things happening, but the sight of a boob is so shocking you kick someone off a plane for breastfeeding? Fifty percent of the population has boobs. And other like 48% of males are trying to see boobs. Why is a poor boob such a shocking and offensive sight when most people either see one everyday in the shower (at least I hope most people are showering) or they are trying to see one everyday.
What if you get a cold on the last day of your Hawaiian vacation and can't take cold medication? Because for example, you have diabetes, high blood pressure or another condition that requires you cannot take medications with alchol (ie most cold sryups) or antihistimines. If you read the label on most cold medicaitons, they clearly state that you cannot take them if you have high blood pressure and other medical conditions. Does the airline pay for you to spend an extra two weeks in Hawaii while you recover?
Or what if you have a sevre allergy to perfume or cigeratte smoke? Plenty of people are highly allergic to perfune. It can cause sevre coughing, nausea and vomiting, and migraines in people with allergies. So you get stick because of someone else's stink and you get kicked off the plane????
I don't think these measures are making airlines any safer. In fact, I heard recently that in a study of airline security, inspectors tried to send 21 fake bombs on planes. And you know what? All 21 got through!
What is next? Now, they are going to put t-rays (basically an x-ray without the radiation) in airports and everyone will have to walk through them. Okay, what about people with "enhancements"? Does this mean women with breast implants or breastpads (not for nursing, but enhancement) and men with penis pumps are going to be targeted as would be terrorists? Lord knows, a man without erectile dysfunction might get a penis pump full of explosives just so he could blow up a plane with his dick?
Isn't this all getting a bit extreme to anyone but me? You can't cough, you can't feed your kid even if you are using a sippy cup, and lord help you if you have a fingernail file.
It says in the article don't do anything you wouldn't do in church. The thing is people do give their kids drinks in sippy cups in church. And they do breastfeed as well. In fact, in the 20+ years I attended church, I even occassionally heard people coughing. Wow, I must have been to some super liberal churches.

Liz we don't always agree but you hit the nail on the head. It's not a mom doing it, its someone TRYING to harm people.
