Ok.... I have this bookmarked for later review, but I thought it might be interesting for anyone interested in losing weight or is in the process of losing weight. I thought we could all look at it and post your reviews/thoughts here.

I think the Sonoma diet sounds great! I think that added sugar, white flour, and saturated fat are unhealthy, and I would love to try to eliminate those from my daily diet anyway. Plus, you gotta love a diet that doesn't forbid wine!
For me, the South Beach diet and Atkins are way too restrictive. I tried Atkins when I was in college and I never felt good while following that plan.

Also Consumer Reports from a few months ago reviewed some diets. Very informative.

Re: Evaluate the Latest Diets

My sister has recently started a diet, and she wanted to learn about anorexia. I heard that you can eat a muffin and a piece of pizza and an energy drink for the day, and work out but not be anorexic right? I don’t know how to tell if it is crash dieting or anorexia. I want to know about it. Any helpful explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Evaluate the Latest Diets

My sister is anorexic/bulemic. After over 20 years of her dealing with her issues, it is still a struggle for her. This diet sounds very unhealthy. I'm afraid this is going to take the help of a psychologist/psychatrist and her physician. Is she in college? Or high school? Can you talk to a psychologist or guidance counselor yourself? I am sorry to say even though I have lived with a close family member with this for years, I have no advice for you except professional help from a counselor, physician and nutritionist are the very best thing that can be done to help her. No matter how much any of you want to help her, the change has to come from within herself. She will find a way to continue her destructive habits even in a mental hospital, if she is really determined.

Your sister is lucky to have someone who loves her so much. From the perspective of the sister of an anorexic/bulemic, be sure to take care of yourself, because it is so easy to make her problem and helping her your life. In my case, my sister's life has always been a drama and she has always been the center of family attention because she constantly needs help. My family always assumes I am tough and can handle everything no matter how bad, which isn't true. I just don't have any choice.

Her problem is quickly going to absorb your life (especially if you still live at home) and your parents' lives. So as you are taking care of her, be sure to take care of yourself, because her disease can take a lot out of you.

Re: Evaluate the Latest Diets

To answer your question, I think her obsession with anorexia is very concerning. Here is a program from PBS NOVA on eating disorders: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/thin/

BTW, to Baby U! We are all sisters here.

It wasn't on there but have you all heard about the book Skinny B*tch? It is the New York Times #1 Best Seller?
