Costumes 2007?

Ok what are ya all doing?

Alyssa had her heart set on something and DAD said no (she was in tears) Basically she wants to be something scarey and dad will put the kabosh on it. So I need some ideas so I can sew something up for her.

In order for us to ToT Dad has to approve of the costume. This is NOT something I will go against him on. It is one thing he feels strongly about and I want to be able to let the girls head out.

Ummm, isn't Holloween still in October??? No way am I anywhere NEAR thinking about it!

This is what I do with my kids, cuz there is stuff I don't want them wearing either. We talk about what they may want to dress up like. Like with Olivia, I may say, do you want to dress up like one of the princesses or someone from a tv show, or what. Then I look online and choose 5-6 costumes and let them decide from that. They still feel like they picked it, I just narrow down the selection.

Hope that helps, and I hope the girls will be able to ToT....

So the guidelines are what, Karen? Nothing scary, or otherwise 'inappropriate' for a little girl, right?

Let's see... You may have done some of these, but maybe this will give you some ideas:

Cheerleader
Clown
Princess
Fairy
Imp (kind of a cross between a devil and a fairy - not too scary)
Witch (complete with orange and black striped stockings if you can find them )
Dorothy (from the Wizard of Oz - give her a basket with a little stuff dog sticking out of it)
Ballerina
Butterfly
Bee
Zoo keeper (have her carry around a stuffed tiger or something - or have P dressed as a tiger )
Adventurer (kind of like zoo keeper - like someone on an African safari)
Southern Belle (big foofy dress, and a parasol)
Any variety of cat (lion, tiger, kitty cat, etc)

Hmmm.... I'm out of ideas. Of course, I have a boy, and he's going to end up being something creepy, I expect. I don't want to even ask until after we've moved.

What was it that she had her heart set on? Is there any way you can do a take-off on it, and make it acceptable?

Yup definitly helps. (there are things I don't want them dressed up as either - just easier to blame it on dad )

She's been a cat and a flower - Kate was an elephant and a bumble bee.

She wants to be a vampire and P to be a bat. Dad said NO. (HE kaboshed it a few years ago too when she was the only child so i kinda knew it wasn't gonna fly)

We had talked about doing a cat , mouse and making P a piece of cheese. But Alyssa doesn't want to do that.

I made her a dorothy dress just recently - maybe I can convince her to do that? Then Kate can be a fairy godmother and P a munchkin.

ooh I think Dorothy, fairy god mother and a munchkin would be ADORABLE!

The only reason I already know what Logan is going to be is because Sam has been doing his hair all slicked down with the alfalfa sprout on top amd he looks so cute!! I am going to go to goodwill and see what I can find for a kids suit. Should be easy since he is so skinny, I am sure I can find something that fits hiw waist and is too short

My husband would probarly react the same way, Im thinkin of dressing Destiny up in TinkerBell and Raymond as Peterpan, DH aint too thrill to see his son in tights

I'm the opposite on stuff like this they are only kids once and I certainly agree nothing inappropriate. Jimmy is 5 this year and really wants to be a Gauze Reaper and so this year I will let him. It's gauze and then a zombie face...not to bad and I'm not sure for Jaedyn she will just be 1 on the 28th of October so I want it to be special since it's also her birthday.

We had Haley dressed as Dorothy one year and Zach was Toto.

I haven't even started thinking about this year yet. I'm sure Haley will pick something off the wall like usual, Zach will be the Red Ranger AGAIN, and Brenna will be something cute that I pick out.

Well Kate has decided to be either a pirate or cinderella. Alyssa said she will be whatever I decide.
I think Pirates will be fun so I am going to aim for those (after clearing them with dad - I think they should be ok)

I think Pirates is a good idea! I may try to convince my kids to do the same.

Gosh I haven't even thought about it. I usually pick or put the idea in their head. Trey I think said he wanted to be Superman since we have done spiderman and batman and DarthVader.

Brittany will be cute but not too grown up.

We are still in the air (which is why I still haven't started sewing /cutting or shopping for anything. ) But I am definitly involving all of them so that they WEAR whatever it is we decide on. Kate keeps changing her mind.

The boys are going to be Nascar Pit Crew people and Leah is going to be a Genie. (I got the costumes at the end of the season last year)
