VBS - Vacation Bible School

Did your kids or will your kids go to VBS this summer? What was the theme? Did they learn anything/what did they learn? Did you help out with VBS? If you send your kids to VBS what is the main reason you send them? (just curious )

My church has VBS during the day so I can't help out (it was one week last month). The theme my church did was Avalanche Ranch.

Zachariah can't go until next summer since our church is 4 years old and up.

I can't wait for him to go. I think he'll have a great time and learn a lot.

I have no idea VBS is the last week of July first week of August.

No - Kev is gone the week they have it - otherwise I thought about it.

They will be going July 22 - July 26 at their School. (Memorial Lutheran) Our church doesn't have bible school. We tried it for a couple of years, but there just weren't enough people interested in helping out.

I won't help out this year, since I am not involved with the schools church. I have done many bible schools in the past though.

I think it is good for them to have a concentrated week of learning about God and it gives me a much needed break! LOL

Aaron went for the first time this year. The theme was Gameday Central, a sports theme. I don't know specifics of what he learned, but one thing he said was "Mom, did you know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins?" I love that. He already knew it but it was so cool to hear him say it. We are Christians so I want him to have a strong Biblical foundation.

The older two went last year and I forget the theme, but this year.. all four older ones are going The theme is "The Armor of God" and they are transforming the entire church into a castle. The people from Medieval Times are donating costumes and props. There will be archers and black smiths, etc. A LOT of stuff. The boys and I cannot wait. I am helping out by doing the church's web site stuff for the "Children of the King Festival" ( instead of VBS)

That is so cool, Shona!!!!!!!! What a neat idea turning the church into a castle!

I went to VBS as a kid and it wasn't as neat as some of them are now. I love themed Vacation Bible Schools like they have nowadays. The last one I worked at, a couple of years ago, the kids had a verse to learn each day that related to what the day's story was about. It was pretty neat!

Since we've moved and don't have a new church yet, I hadn't really thought about it. Jonathan's always been too young until this year. I have always helped with VBS anywhere we've been.

I've seen a ton of churches around here doing Avalanche Ranch.

Emily attended this year and had a great time. Our theme was Avalanche Ranch. She learned that God is strong, God is awesome, and God is with us. I did not volunteer with VBS because my sister was in town that week, but I did do snacks one night.

We went last night... It was the only night we would be able to attend because of my work schedule.

The church up the street is doing "Avalanche Ranch" next week Tammy.
