How much time...

Thread Starter
do you allow your kids to spend on the computer and what do they do?

Zachary spends about 1/2 - 1 hour on noggin.com or nick.com

Haley spends a few hours a day (when I'm working) on the computer. I know she loves this site called stardoll.com. It's kind of like a myspace for kids but they can buy clothes, accessories, and other stuff for their mini and spend time decorating their house.
I'm just about to go in and adjust the security of my computer though because I have a feeling she is doing other things as well. She has a friend that she chats with on yahoo (from back in NC) that is a horrible influence and much older than her age. I actually saw the other day when they were talking that this girl was trying to convince Haley to make an "adultfriendfinder.com" profile.
I had to have a talk with her about how inappropriate and dangerous it is for her to do things like that.
I'd love for one of those episodes of Maury to come on where they have the undercover people and the real victims of internet preditors so I can have her sit down and watch it.

Logan is too click happy with the mouse and messes thing sup. He does get on from the sitters with her supervision and she is working with him on leanring how to use it the right way.

Samantha uses it at the sitters. She goes on disney.com. I will have to check out the doll one. She has been allowed to use it unsupervised very few times to work on school reports BUT I ALWAYS check the history and she lost the right to use it unsupervised because she was doing other things. I DO NOT let her IM . Call me paranoid but on the net anyone can be anything. A 50 year pedofile can be your 12 year old neighbor. I have stressed this to Sam and untill she can prove she can be responsible there is no way in he!! I will let her use it unsupervised.

Sorry for the rant but I know what goes on online and I feel its too risky to let her be on when I am not home.

My kids are never online unless I am standing next to them and then they are on nick jr or disney. When they are on, max is 30 minutes.

Rach & Issac go to Noggin or Nick Jr a few times a day, I'd say an hour total? They also play at learninggames.aol.com once in awhile.

Alyssa is hardly ever on and when she is I let her stay for as long as she likes - only cause right now she only plays fo rlike 20 minuts then decides she's done. And she doesn't get internet unless dad or I are there. I have bought her educational games to play.

Joey gets 4 hours per week of time on either the XBox, his Nintendo DS, or playing games/surfing on the computer. I have Norton Parental Controls installed on his computer, so he can only go to sites I've pre-approved and added to the "allowed" list - otherwise, Norton won't let him get to them at all. During the school year, that four hours is for use only on weekends and holidays.

He also earns additional time (for use during the week, during the school year) with piano practice - 15 minutes of piano practicing equals an additional 15 minutes of "Xbox time" (good for all the things above, though, not just the Xbox).

Brittany likes to check her e-mail from Tessa (littlebit's DD) and go to a barbie web site or postopia.com. Trey like PBS's website. They use it very little compared to before.

If Haley or Sam wants to e-mail with Brittany let me know.
