He no longer sleeps!!!

UGH! What happened? My son is 8 months and now wants to wake at 4 and 5 in the morning and will not go back to sleep! I am now bringing him into my bed in the morning but I have to fight him to go to sleep. Since he has started crawling and standing, he only wants to be on the go....

He is SO TIRED at night when he goes to bed (8 p.m.) We have tried keeping him up later but it doesn't work. In fact, he got up even earlier the next day!

I try to let him play in his crib, but he falls and bumps his head and will start screaming. I am at my wits end! Waking at 4 and 5 a.m. is too early! I hope this is a phase and that he will eventually sleep through to 6 a.m .or later.

I am so tired!

Does he nap well? He might actually need to go to bed EARLIER. I find that if Gabe is up too late he sleeps like crap and gets up EARLIER the next day.

He'll be 7 months soon here. He gets up at 7 Am takes an hour nap at about 9:20/10am. He naps again for an hour at about 3 and then takes a half hour nap around 6. He's in bed by 8pm

My daughter is almost 9 months old and will wake up every night between 3-5 am. I warm a 4 ounce bottle, this is me second child so it's a little different raising the second. I personally prop her bottle with a blanket cover her up with her own blanket and she will then go back to sleep. I'm not telling you to prop his bottle but it works for me and she now will not take a bottle if I'm holding her she has to have her blankie. She is the type of child that will take the blanket and pull it up over her head anyway so it was a no brainer for me to use the blanket. She started pulling the blanket over her head almost out of the womb....

My first child, I did the exact same thing you're doing. He would wake up and I would put him in my bed. That was the worse decision I could have ever made. He was 5 in April and I just broke him from sleeping in my bed! Not telling you what to do but I think the less disturbance the better and I refuse to allow her in my bed. Try giving him a warm bottle rub his head and tell him it's night night time and see if it works....

Thanks ladies. I do feed him when he wakes at 4 a.m. There are times when he only takes a few ounces. He will start to fall asleep while I feed him so I put him back in his crib. However, he usually wakes back up! That is when I just bring him to bed with me. I can't keep fighting him. Either I bring him to bed with me or I have to get up b/c he is up. I would rather lay in bed.

Someone else told me to put him to bed earlier. I will try that.

He does nap fairly well on most days. He will nap for 1 hour or more in the a.m. and 1-2 hours in the afternoon.

I hope it gets better!

Gabe gets up from his last nap about 2 1/2 hours before bed time.

I hope putting him to bed earlier helps.

My son is 22 months old and from what I've learned from him so far is that his bedtime and naptime change from month to month it seems. He used to have periods where he would wake up earlier but eventually he'd go back into the routine of things. I hope you get rest soon and hope this passes. 5 am is too earlier for anyone to be awake. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. My son has never really had a problem with waking during the night like that. He's woke up a few times around 4 and it is usually from his teeth hurting so I put some orajel on his gums and right back to bed and he'll go right to sleep. My son's 11 months old now and sleeps sound through the night. I put him to bed around 11 p.m and he will sleep until around 9 or 10 the next morning. I don't recommend feeding him when he wakes up though because that could establish a routine for him wanting to wake and eat that early. With Randy, right before bed he gets his last bottle of the night and I always put about an ounce of cereal (stage 1 rice cereal) in an 8 oz. bottle. That seems to help fill his little tummy up until morning. I hope you find something that works out for you hun. I know that has to be frustrating with your baby waking so early. Good luck.
